Found out a way to avoid flowers after a rainy day

I'm not sure if someone has already posted about this, but I found that if you play through a rainy day, then TT back to the day BEFORE the rainy day, no flowers will sprout. So then you can quit and TT to the day AFTER the rainy day and you don't have to dig anything up.

I wish I tried this sooner because I ranted about the flowers so much. I'm not fussed about time travelling so I'm happy I can enjoy rain/snow without the cleaning!

Interesting, thanks for the info! I was wondering why so many people were giving away hybrids at the beginning when I first started ACNH, but now I know why. 😂 The hybrids are honestly worse than weeds when it comes to overrunning the island!

I have a blank transparent pattern in my design slots, when I'm done designing an area I stand on each flower and display patterns on ground. The patterns will be placed exactly where flowers can spawn (you're standing on the flower and the patterns get displayed in a 3x3 grid around you). Then I kick away any patterns that are on in game path tiles because they aren't neccessary and I like the click clack sound.
Easy peasy :D

for me personally i feel like that's more of a hassle than digging out flowers x3 but for someone that doesn't mind TT back and forth it's honestly a great tip  i'll keep it mind in case i want to do a lot of time travelling or don't have time to dig out flowers it could be very useful!

That's another good option but in my case I have so many flowers scattered around that I was never going to work up the nerve to place all those patterns 😆 Also my island would sound like half grass and half plastic! It would be great if the transparent areas could have the stepping sound of what's underneath and not the plastic sound.

Honestly just digging them up isn't so bad, but I'm still traumatised from winter where it snowed all the time on my island, so most of my play time consisted of digging up flowers and fixing shovels and I hated it SO much lol.

Yeah it's harder when you've designed everything first for sure xD I worked it into my designing process, it was a part of planting the flowers for me.

Thank goodness I don't have much flowers planted on my island because they used to grow like crazy. The only way I see to combat this issue is to not have grass patterns nearby so that way the flowers won't be able to grow out of control.

Thats a good tip for those that time travel! I don’t time travel though, so I have to avoid playing in the rain. What I do is either check my weather seed, or if I’m lazy then I just look at the weather on the title screen and quickly close the game if it’s raining.

This is what I do too. Every time it would snow or rain I’d have almost a full inventory of flowers. It would make me dread playing.

i do that sometimes but often forget. i am perpetually digging it seems 😅

I just placed invisible tiles around my flowers so them breeding is never a problem and I can't see that there is anything there.
Its a complete win.

Probably not helpful to those who plan on moving their flowers in the near future, but if they're staying put, I highly advise it

And if you don't want to have to TT back a day and then TT forward TWO days, another alternative is to just go back to an hour before you played on the same day, while it's not raining. It'll still take back the watering that you did, so come the next day no new flowers. And you don't have to worry about the repercussions of going back a whole day and skipping over a different one and all that.

Thanks for the tips, personally I don't mind the extra works that comes with the flowers. I have all of my flowers in grid patterns around my trees so the extras are quick to spot. I just have come to expect an extra 10 minute of game time assigned to clean up after it rains.

I feel the exact same - I've always known about the transparent pattern option, but I have so many flowers that it would take hours, and I don't like the unnatural sound it makes when it looks like I'm walking on grass! Also, from time to time I DO want some extra flowers to breed here or there, it just gets a bit much sometimes when you get a lot of rainy days in a row. We all know there's plenty of different ways to deal with flowers, but yours was a suggestion I hadn't heard before, and it's nice to have options.

The thing with the title screen, it actually isn't always accurate to your real weather when you load the game! Occasionally I get shown a sunny day and it turns out to be rainy or the other way around. To make sure, you have to start the game and look on the window when Isabelle is doing her speech :)

Thank you for this tip. Never would have that about TT backwards. I usually just plant weeds around the flowers to keep them from breeding. I also like the idea of a transparent tile. That would look a lot cleaner than the weeds I have everywhere.
