So, since I cannot in good faith buy a 3rd copy of New Leaf when I barely have time to play the two copies I have, I figured I could do something like this: Create a thread of ideas of towns I'd like to do and then let other people use the ideas. I'd love it if you all could share free ideas for people to use too. It would be cool if anyone who uses these ideas would post pictures so we could see how all of these ideas actually look in-game.

Duck Pond
I just thought about this one today. You would have a whole village full of duck villagers. Then all the QR codes that you use to decorate would be water with some sort of plank path to walk through. Or, you could dress like a duck yourself and just pretend like you were swimming everywhere. There would be lily pads and cattails as well. It would be bright and cheery and super cute. Of course, the winter might be weird since ducks migrate south, but whatever. I think it would be adorable.

Nara
This one is too close to Fujimori, so I couldn't do it and be satisfied, but I'd love the aesthetic of it. So there's that town in Japan, Nara, where the deer just kind of roam around and come up to people to be fed. So you would have all the Zen PWPs and bamboo everywhere and all your villagers would be deer. I would either want mossy stone QR paths or zen garden paths everywhere.

Animal Farm
All of the animals would be either chickens, pigs, goats, cows, sheep or horses. You could have scarecrows, fences, and rice racks everwhere. The QR codes you would put down would be vegetable gardens. There are a lot of really cute ones, some of which I've used in Fujimori because I wanted an excuse to have cute veggies. All your player houses would have to look like barns (red wooden exterior and black roof). Your mayor could have one of those twig things in his mouth. It would be adorable.

Igloo Village
This one would have to be set in winter constantly in order for it to work like I want it to work. You would have penguins, Hans (cause he's a yeti), Tutu (polar bear), Flurry (I like to think this one is self explanatory), and either Fang, Skye, or Freya. You'd have a lot of the pine trees so they could be lit up and a really cool camp ground area so it would be an igloo when someone stays there. I would also have bonfires everywhere for those of us who are not furry to stay warm.

Frog Pond
Same thing as duck pond, but with frogs. But it's raining in this town. And instead of an umbrella, you use that green leaf thing.

Duck Pond

Villagers
  • Drake
  • Joey
  • Molly
  • Freckles
  • Bill
  • Gloria
  • Ketchup
  • Mallary
  • Weber
  • Quillson (because you need a smug, I guess)

Public Work Projects
  • Classic Plice Station
  • Outdoor Chair or Hammock
  • Bell
  • Fairy Tale Exteriors for town hall/train station (optional)
  • Wood/Blue Bench
  • Log Bench
  • Tire Toy
  • Suspension Bridge
  • Bus Stop
  • Fairy-Tale Clock
  • Flower Clock
  • Fairy-Tale Street Light/Round Street Light
  • Flower Arch
  • Hot Spring
  • Stone Tablet
  • Fountain

I could also be convinced to put in a windmill or stonehenge to act as a little island. Maybe even a bus stop to act as a place to sit down and feed the ducks. I'd also want a lot of clovers for this town to serve as lily pads, but that'd be hard to do without having a big patch of grass in the middle of the lake.

You're kind of on your own for QR codes, because I'm at work and a lot of sites that host them don't really work on my work filters, lol. But there's tons of cute water paths that you can find.

Nara

Villagers
  • Bam
  • Beau
  • Bruce
  • Deirdre
  • Diana
  • Erik/Chelsea (Neither of these are my faves, so I feel like you could go with whichever is easiest for you to acquire.)
  • Fauna
  • Fuchsia
  • Lopez
  • Zell

Basically, all the deer. Unfortunately, no Peppy villagers. We'll have to make do with what we have tho.

Public Works Projects
  • Zen remodel for train station and town hall, obvs.
  • Zen Bell
  • Zen Bench/Log Bench
  • Wooden Bridge
  • Zen Clock
  • Zen Streetlight
  • Water Well
  • Fire Pit
  • Hot Spring
  • Rack of Rice
  • Water Pump
  • Zen Garden
  • Geyser
  • Stone Tablet

You could probably get away with putting the tower in there if you are feeling like things are a little bare. You could pretend it's Tokyo Tower, which is I think what it's based on anyway. If you're going that way, I'd also suggest putting in the bus stop and street light in, so you can have a modern city with zen aspects thrown in there like the real Nara.

Animal Farm

Villagers
I've made a list of each villager type that I think would work in this town. I've starred by the ones I'd definitely put in there.

Chickens

Sheep
  • Baabara
  • Eunice
  • Vesta*
  • Wendy
  • Willow
  • Curlos

  • Bell
  • Yellow Bench/Wood Bench
  • Picnic Blanket
  • Log Bench
  • Cobblestone Bridge
  • Bus Stop
  • Flower Clock
  • Drinking Fountain
  • Fence
  • Fountain
  • Instrument Shelter
  • Streetlight
  • Water Well
  • Flower Bed
  • Rack of Rice
  • Scarecrow
  • Water Pump
  • Wisteria Trellis
  • Windmill

You could also do a bunch of topiaries if you were feeling fancy, although that would be for a fancier farm town.

You could do a lot of dirt paths in this town and have it look great!
Igloo Village

Villagers:
  • Hans
  • Tutu
  • Flurry
  • Fang/Skye/Freya (I honestly don't know which one of these lil wolf-os, I prefer.
  • Aurora
  • Rolf
  • Flo
  • Hopper
  • Sprinkle
  • Tex

Public Works Projects
  • Modern Police Station
  • Modern town hall and train station (I feel like the modern look gives it the feel of an arctic research station)
  • Camping Cot
  • Log Bench
  • Cobblestone Bridge/Modern Bridge
  • Modern Clock
  • Instrument Shelter
  • Modern or Round Streetlight
  • Archway Sculpture (normally I kind of hate the sculptures, but I think this looks like an igloo)
  • Campsite
  • Fire Pit
  • Hot Spring
  • Parabolic Antenna
  • Solar Panel
  • Wind Turbine

Lol, this turned into a village at an arctic research station. I'm not even mad.

Frog Pond

This would pretty much exactly be the same as Duck Pond regarding PWPs and whatnot, so I'm only going to mention the villagers

Villagers
  • Drift
  • Frobert
  • Diva
  • Henry
  • Jambette
  • Jeremiah
  • Lily
  • Prince
  • Tad
  • Puddles

This is a really nice thread!

My Idea is kinda lame, but a something like a modernized town seems cool & not done as much! One where the paths are are roads and there's a lot of modern public work projects!
For villagers you plot-reset them (if you're into that) into a little neighborhood that they could live in!
Villagers you could include in your town could be:
- Alice
- Eugene
- Pecan
- T-Bone
- Olivia
- Kyle
- Shep
- Mallary
- Kitt
- Simon

Personally, that would be my lineup! But you could honestly include anybody- especially if their houses match the modernized look for the town :D

I really like this idea! It was one I pondered posting about, but I wasn't as inspired. Now I want to sit down and think about who I'd put in a modern town. Hmmmmm... Definitely some of the animals with glasses for sure. Because they are modern ladies who go to eye doctors, lol.

Hey! Is Fujimori a town already based on Nara? If you know of a dream address for Fujimorji I'd love to visit it

It is and it isn't. What was really important to me about Nara was having an all deer zen town. Fujimori, while being a zen town, does not have a single deer in it. It's also not quite finished yet. I was going to post the dream address when it was done. I've got like 5 more villagers to move out and two more bridges to build (can't build any of them until EFFING SPRINKLE MOVES OUT).

Just want to say, the idea of a duck pond or frog pond is adorable and I’d love to see it in action sometime!

Love love love this thread! Wish I had a dozen copies of ACNL and all the time in the world to make all the towns! XD

Had a brainstorm the other night for a town themed around The Arts! Each character in town would represent Music, Art(painting/drawing), Theatre, and Dance. This would be a great way to incorporate Gyroids, musical instruments, fun use of KK music, and those somewhat obtrusive art piece PWPs. The whole town could be a sort of Museum or maybe even an arts campus. Definitely need the coffee shop and the Bell PWPs too.

As for villagers, at a glance, maybe Marcel, Kabuki, Cesar, Gigi, Lionel, Cousteau, Klaus, Gaston, Astrid, Olaf, Pietro, or Jacques.

I came up with another one today! This was inspired by the doctor's mask that was in my Able Sisters shop yesterday! I want to do a town that's all Japanese urban legend themed. Of course, one of my human characters would be Kuchisake-onna wearing all white, having shaggy black hair, and sporting the doctor's mask to hide her face.

Another human character I'd have would be Hanako-san of the Toilet: a little girl in a school uniform and toilets all over her house. Another would be Tomino from the Tomino's Hell urban legend. I would try to pull in elements from the poem: two sisters, the animal motifs, and lots and lots of red. The last human character would probably be Sadako. I know she's from a movie, but I just feel like she'd fit in here.

As for the villagers, I'd have Renee, Bruce, Coco, Clay, Gloria, Kevin, Tammi, Tabby, Quillson and Benjamin.

I would probably do a lot of PWPs that are more technological and modern like the stoplights and towers and whatnot. Also all my QR codes would be roads and all that. This idea is actually sorely tempting me to get a third copy of the game, but I'll resist. Maybe when I upload Fujimori to the Dream Suite, I'll delete it and make this town. I don't have a name for it, other than just being lame and naming it Tokyo.

I barely have time to play just one I can't imagine two, though Id like two copies :( , so I made my a sort of everything town. A normal countryside town I wish I could be a part of.

I chose the top villagers I liked it's really hard because there are more than one villager I'd like of the same personality x( and cycling villagers wouks be simpler this way in case one one moves over your patterns and you forgot to plot reset.

Also good for hiarding items.

There's more than one MC villager type I'd like too so I had to pick the ones I liked the very best

Been thinking more on this. What about a fancy town? Like, everyone is Victorian/Regency England/Rococo fancy?

Clearly, you'd have to use Fairytale PWPs and try to use as little modern stuff as possible. Lots of cobblestone roads, maybe some hedge mazes with some fountains like the gardens at Versaille? I think this could be a really pretty town with only pink, red, and white flowers.

Here's who I'd put in it:

Baabara (Snooty)
Becky (Snooty)
Chops (Smug)
Colton (Smug)
Elvis (Cranky)
Kitty (snooty)
Knox (Cranky)
Muffy (Uchi)
Pecan (Snooty)
Willow (Snooty)

Unfortunately, lots of snooties and crankies, but there's sort of a limited amount of whose houses and style would fit this town. You'd have to really be okay with a limited amount of personality, lol.

I’ve been wanting to do a town that’s more of a kingdom similar to the post above. I’m too far into my secondary town to change it now but geez would I love to do a big fancy castle with a princess as the resident, I love the princess series and how detailed it is~
And doing like “upscale” really detailed landscaping would be so fun.

I also LOVE the frog village idea I love frogs and i’ve always thought like fully water towns were so interesting

I really would LOVE to see the frog village idea happen. I'm really restraining myself from buying a third and fourth copy of the game to make all these ideas. People need to take these ideas and post pics/dream addresses so I can visit them and give my poor wallet a break! Also, I barely have had time lately to play in my two towns, I don't have time for any more.

i LOVE your idea of nara!! i really want to do something like that for new horizons but im still not sure what kind of customization we're going to be able to do lol.

great ideas!!! the detail you've given is so cool haha

My idea is Area 51 Where you have really weird villagers and your narato run around you village :p

Thought of another town concept I think would be interesting today!

Theme: African Savannah

Landscaping: early fall when the grass is yellow-green or light orange; lots of worn natural paths and bare spots; sporadic bushes (sweet olive?); very few trees (sapling only, no cedar); mango, orange, and banana trees near water/beach

Areas:
Campsite - for all those safari tourists. A campsite, camping cot, bonfire, and stumps. Entrance needs a few torches.

Town Hall - Fairytale with a few benches and maybe a fountain, clearly a diplomat's destination. Could also be left as the wood rustic.

Watering Hole - Only lake in town, has a few more trees than usual and several villagers live nearby. Maybe a drinking fountain. Could also be near Town Square.

Elephant Graveyard - Archway Structure, very barren with some rocks and fossils scattered about.

Deep Jungle - one corner of town could be thick with trees, hidden inside could be a sphinx or a stone tablet.

Outpost - Retail area, possibly close to Campsite for all their supply needs. Maybe have a rack of rice or some tools nearby on the ground.

Other PWPs: Geyser, log bench, instrument shelter, hot springs, water well, suspension bridge.

Possible Villagers:
Savannah the Zebra
Zell the Gazelle
Lopez/Beau the Antelope
Boone the Baboon
Boots/Sly the Crocodile
Elvis/Rex the Lion
Tank the Rhino
Biff/Rocco the Hippo
Sandy the Ostrich
Flora the Flamingo
Tucker/Dizzy the Elephant
Papi the Okapi

Most of the animals would probably gather around the Watering Hole area, the Crocodile would live near the river, the Okapi and Baboon near the jungle, and the elephant, lions, and rhino would be more out in the open.

definitely don't make the town tune something from The Lion King
