Gotta make a move to a town that's right for you!

We are an urban paradise that lights up brighter at nightfall. This island took a long time to complete, as I also decided to utilize extra profiles on my Switch to create many indoor house spaces to make: a school, a mall, and a "Disney Store" to show off my custom designs! I actually recently finished it just before finding this lovely forum, and to be honest it'll probably still see some fine tuning. I'll always be looking for new ways to make it better and prettier.
When I got the game back in May of last year, I didn't really know for sure what I wanted, just that I wanted to change the island's layout. I named it "funkytown" mostly on a fluke, I kinda assumed someone had already taken it. But nope! After listening to the song Funkytown by Lipps Inc over and over again to come up with ideas, and googling custom path designs I realized I really liked the idea of an urban design to make the island feel more lived in and populated. I also liked the idea of a "bustling nightlife" vibe. I figured trying to make it look like an actual metropolitan city would involve doing a lot of layout altering, and I still wanted a wilderness area, so I just decided to work with buildings that them game already gives you instead of using panels and custom designs to mimic buildings.
I also wanted to use indoor spaces to conserve outdoor space, and because I wanted to use indoor furnishing, wallpaper, and hangings to make these spaces. I'll elaborate more when I get into their own entries. I used two buildings to create the school, and two buildings for the mall and Disney Store. The school took a considerable amount of time to build, mostly because it required a LOT of time travel to speed up the process of purchasing many of the same furnishings (desks, computers, lockers, etc.), but the mall was specifically a big task. It required the most time and effort to trade around with the community. A lot of Nookazon, Treasure Islands, and Discord to find just the basics. But all in all, I'm proud of the progress and I can't wait to show everything off!
Next few entries will be about explaining the island layout and each of the buildings I made. Stay tuned
