I've never bothered going on Gaia online, even after getting a event item code in a magazine years ago. I heard it was bad, but didn't bother finding out how. With all the talk of other tumblr options, this one finally got brought up. The consensus seems to be an "oh hell no". Do any of you have experience with this site?

Live journal apparently still exists as well. Pretty sure they have to purge inactive accounts frequently.

I use to have some people added on Facebook who use to talk about it all the time, they used it entirely for the dress up features and not for the forum function (I honestly didn't even know it was a forum till I looked it up just now.) Just seems like there's a lot more services that pertain more around a general forum/art posting function. I've seen a lot of hope for PillowFort mostly.

It's basically a crashed economy with cesspool forums now even though, it was better before I must say. I think I can still access my account but I don't really touch it lol XD

I signed up when I was 12 and played it on and off through the years. I recall being called a crybaby little ***** and other interesting names by other members.

That was a topic I had posted when I was 17 and frustated that my grandmother was throwing my clothes away and replacing them with stuff she thought was better. I made it clear that I was happy wearing what she called boy shirts, but she wouldn't have it. People on Gaia called me a little ***** and said I deserved to have my shirts taken.

Gaia was at its best in 2004-2007 or so. I'll always have fond memories of it, but I haven't been on it in a long time and I've heard it's just gone downhill over the years.

i dont bother going on gaia anymore. i used to go on meez, which id have to say the last year or two it was still running was terrible because they were trying to launch an app. once they started changing their site people stopped going on it. i really miss it, it seems like all my favorite sites are starting to shut down and even though gaia hasnt shut down it might as well bc it just isnt fun anymore.

gaia is cute! the economy and forum kind of intimidate me, i just like making funny avatars <:( i was waaay off from the years it was big though. i didn't even make any internet accounts on my own until 2010 and i didn't check out gaia until like, a year or two ago! i definitely don't think it's a replacement for tumblr, i have NO idea who thought that. i guess that means TBT is a good replacement as well :p (not bagging on tbt here i love it dearly but FORUMS ARE NOT THE SAME)

My weeby friends all liked it and talked about it constantly in like 2005 or something, but my dial-up internet couldn't handle it, haha. I tried it again in 2013 when a similar website called TinierMe died (where I originally started using the name Mr. Cat), but it wasn't the same and I really didn't like it or use it for long.
