AC is truly fascinating, and before I bought ACNH I bought NL for my 3DS, WW for DS (playing on WiiU) as well as CityFolk for Wii and recently GameCube version.
I'm mainly focused on ACNH but in the nearest future I would like to play some older versions as well as NH.
I searched already and tried to find differences between original GC version and WildWorld and some people treating GC version as a best one, nearly as iconic. Some people claiming GC version is limited and sometimes annoying comparing to WW.
I would like to mainly compare GameCube version to WildWorld. Is here anyone could show me differences and reason I should stick to one but not other version?
Thanks in advance.

Edit:
Maybe it will be good idea to give some videos I found:

The GameCube game is basically an upgraded version of Animal Forest+. It has its limits but it’s also charming in its simplicity.

It also has a code system where you can gift items to and receive items from other people, even though there was no online features on the GameCube. Unfortunately, for whatever reason, the developers limited this system to only being allowed to trade normal items you could buy from Tom Nook’s store, so you can’t trade rare/holiday items, but it’s still a neat feature.

If you want to play Wild World, I suggest you go play City Folk instead as it’s Wild World on the Wii and with some extra features. The only notable advantages WW has over CF that I could remember at the top of my head is that it’s on the DS so it’s portable(which the Wii U Virtual Console version clearly isn’t), has better controls, has far better dialogue, and has local wireless multiplayer(which, again, the Wii U version doesn’t, and even if you did have an original copy, it’s unlikely you have any nearby friends who are playing WW).

@BiggestFanofACCF thanks for your answers.
I never had a chance to see Animal Forest + so I have no opinion about it.

When I considered play older versions than ACNH, only assuming single player game. ACNH is only one exception when I playing with my GF.
After I watched video posted above and read your comment I think it will be worth to give a chance to GameCube version.
Recently I've been tempted by custom texture project where playing GameCube with "new quality" is possible.
If someone will be interested, here's a link:

Animal Crossing HD texture pack

I have both games, WW and CF, but when I tried first time more than one month ago both versions CF on Wii and WW on Wii U made assumption catching bug / fish wasn't really comfortable for me. But yesterday, I realised I can use "C" button instead of swinging my Wii remote what is more comfortable for me and more accurate.
Portability is not a problem for me, as I mainly playing home, not outside. Not considered yet to play any other version of AC with anyone, just as a single player.

Definitely I want to give a chance for GameCube version, but take into consideration to play CF instead of WW, as I understood it's same version, much improved and adapted for Wii console.

I have to disagree on City Folk being an upgraded Wild World, sure it had it’s improvements like the holidays, but now all those improvements are pretty much all covered by New Horizons and New Leaf.

Wild World had the most interesting villager interactions in the series, the dialogue is as good as the Gamecube game but it added a unique hobby system which makes interacting with the villagers in that game fantastic. In my opinion

Gamecube: most quirky and unique
Wild World: best villager interactions
City Folk: had the best graphics and most content at the time of release, but has been made redundant by newer games
New Leaf: most content and furniture
New Horizons: most creative freedom

@Bilaz thanks for your opinion. You may not know, but Animal Crossing series / franchise was unfamiliar for me and I joined "world of AC" less than two months ago and it's quite normal for me, trying to catch up.
It looks, like every single AC game has something what makes this particular one worth to try and dive in into separate AC world.
I'm not trying to reject any of AC games, but just trying to find order of playing.

If you want to play both WW and ACGC, I'd start with WW because most people consider it the lesser of the two games. WW is almost completely outclassed by NL and NH. WW has more items and some quality of life improvements over the GC version, but it also lacks a lot of the charm and character that the GC version has. WW's map is completely flat and it lacks real holidays which can make it get stale a lot faster. You get fewer villagers and less space to work with in WW and there is nowhere else for you to go outside of your village. It's not a bad game, but it has basically sunk to the bottom of the AC games along with CF. The GC game lets you have up to 15 villagers which is still the highest amount for the series and there are still a few features that are unique to that game that are not even in NL or NH. CF combines a lot of the popular GC and WW features, but there isn't a lot of unique content and the bus ride to and from the city is an absolutely atrocious feature that single-handedly brings the rating of the game down 10-20%. If you want to try all three games, I'd go WW, CF, ACGC in that order.

@Red Cat I was playing recently many hours in ACNH and it's not possible un-see what I saw and experienced. I'm really happy my collection of AC is growing instead of shrinking. In few days I will be posting my subjective comparison of each (owned) AC game and I will share my personal thoughts.
One thing I'm trying to accomplish: not to be confused playing more than one title daily, but for now it looks like one title will be not enough and I must decide (if it will be possible) to choose two or three AC games and play every day. Will I accomplish it or not? This question is not answered yet.
