I recently set sail from my old island of Sungrove, looking for a fresh start ...

welcome to Gardenia!



This is a documentation of my island as it develops (with photos whenever I can be bothered to go through Twitter).
This first post will obviously be developed a lot more as I continue with my journey.

after crash-landing on gardenia and meeting my new pals, rocket (who i had in my new leaf town <3) and peck, i made a resolution to not make the same mistake i did on sungrove: i am not going to terraform gardenia at all. i definitely do want to lay paths and items and such down, but i will not be touching the rivers or cliffs. thank goodness i'm happy with my map layout!

after settling in the first day, discovering the first of many critters for tom nook and familiarising myself with the small patch of island i was limited to - i spent the next day doing the same for blathers. i was also able to go island hopping for my next three villagers and i'm super happy with molly, rodeo and maddie (who i've always wanted!) i wasn't able to move them in today, but i gathered all the materials that timmy and tommy need for their shop and hopefully i'll be able to set plots up for the next three tomorrow super excited!!

apparently when my switch was repaired it automatically set the time to the 1st of January, 2020, so I'd be playing during January the entire time and only realised when I matched my time to the internet. :I It automatically moved in Maddie, Rodeo and Molly, which is okay but I like the slow progression of the intro and really dislike time travelling. also a lot of my stamps begin on the 1st of January now haha. oh well!!

Resident Services is already upgrading because of this, so at least on the bright side I can lay down a bridge tomorrow for Molly to use because at the moment the bridge only connects Maddie and Rodeo to the main part of the island. gotta focus on the good things!!

haha yeah I wish we could all do that (but better this time), thank you!!

anyway I ended up having to restart again a few days in due to a switch error whoops. back at it again with Gardenia 2.0!!

I started with Phoebe and Roald this time and I'm really liking Phoebe. I used to hate her in my New Leaf town because she moved in literally on top of a plaza I was working on and it took a lott of time travel (which I don't do anymore) to move her out. but I forgive her!! I know Roald is a favourite for a lot of people so that's cool too.

My first three island villagers were Drago (who was also from Sungrove!), Flora, Ava and Marina. I don't like to cycle through villagers too much (I like unpopular villagers) but I just ... did not want Ava lol. sooo I ended up with Drago, Flora and Marina. Now that I have Drago and Phoebe I'm thinking about going for the other two mythical-based villagers, Julian and Hans. would be crazy if Julian ended up at my campsite in a day or two haha

As you can see, my island is pretty similar to Gardenia 2.0, with the same colour airport and such as well. I've spent most of my time trying to accumulate Nook Miles, and I think I'm going to have to go shopping on other islands to get a costume in time for Halloween. I'm also focusing on trying to obtain all of my current villagers' original furniture (I know they won't place it all down, but I can at least give them the option lol). Super excited to find out who my other five villagers are gonna be.

it's been a hot minute since i've updated so ---

i have my ten villagers! after the first five moved in, i had my first camper, and it was hans! which is pretty crazy because i made it a possible goal to get all the four villagers modelled after mythical creatures (phoebe, drago, hans and julian) so that means julian is the only one left i won't get him for a while because i've had Zell move in and i don't want more than two of any personality.

after hans, i used my very limited nmts to get kody. because i had none left, i let rng move in a villager to a house, and it was .....

rizzo.

so yeah needless to say i'm not trusting rng again. howeverrr i found out that rizzo moved to my island from someone else's, who i invited to my island a few days before rizzo moved in. which is actually kinda cool! and i might let rng move villagers in a bit more to see if anyone from a different island does it. and at least i can eventually get rizzos photo and then never have ti see him again because yikes. maybe i'll warm up to him but .... his hair .... connected to moustache .... why .... the bangs .......... all of it is just.

anyway after that i used my even more limited nmts to get zell and skye!! (got them both with about 5 island jumps). skye's catchphrase (airmail) is absolutely adorable and i'm really happy to have her on my island.

i have naomi at my campsite today, but i'm not really interested and i like the villagers i have at the moment.

even rizzo can stay. for now.

(as for actual island updates - plaza upgraded, nooks shop built, mabel asked if she could build a shop today after visiting literally once (this is her second visit).... also i swear gulliver washes up on my island every single day. i've also paid off and upgraded my house one time and i'm currently working towards paying off my second bridge (after the first free nook one). wow it's hard to do stuff with no external help!! but it's rewarding .... i guess)

In a shocking turn of events, Rizzo asked to move yesterday.

and I said no.

I'm not exactly a fan of the creepy little dude but I do want to get his photo before he moves out and he does look good in a sweatshirt I got him that matches his weird hair/moustache combo.

I don't feel strongly about any of my villagers, really. when I first played AC:NH it was during isolation and Uni was on pause so I didn't have a lot to do, but now that lockdown has been over for a long time where I am I actually have commitments and try to sleep and stuff, so I haven't spent a lot of time with all of them.

I am really loving Skye though!!
