Pokémon Gen 9 Starters

Which starter will you be choosing for Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet?

I'll be choosing Quaxly. Always gotta choose the water starter.

I’m choosing the fire croc starter, Fuecoco. I’m looking forward to the final evolutions, although that won’t change my decision.

Grass is my favorite type, and I happen to be of the opinion that Sprigatito has the best design of the three, so I'm definitely most excited to use Sprigatito.

I'm one of those people who buys both versions of these games though, so I'd probably use the other two in the second playthrough.

It's Sprigatito > Quaxly > Fuecoco for me. Quaxly edges out Fuecoco just by the fact that Quaxly is a duck and birds are my favorite types of creatures. Fuecoco isn't bad though, it's just third because someone had to be. I'm looking forward to seeing what they all evolve into.

I usually go with the grass type so I'll pick Sprigatito except for when I chose Scorbunny cause I'll gravitate towards any pokemon that's based off of rabbits. Let's hope Sprigatito's final form isn't ugly or on it's hind legs cause that might sway my final desicion.

Going to be choosing Fuecoco because it has the most unique design, imo. Plus, the only time I've ever chosen a non-fire starter was with Froakie back in generation six (which was a mistake considering how much I hate Greninja now).

Despite being open to the other starters, I always end up choosing the grass starter (except for tepig ).

I'd really like to choose Quaxley , though admittedly if I see the final evolutions I could change my mind. I'll possibly try and avoid spoilers, but we'll see!

So far I'm picking Fuecoco, mostly because I like crocodiles. But this could change easily.

I always have a habit of starting with the Water Types, and Quaxley is cool! But Sprigatito is SO CUTE I might just pick it if I consider picking up this game

Depends on what their evolutions look like (and if I even buy the game). But based on their starters, probably the grass cat, although chompy fire gator has grown on me quite a bit!

For once I’m considering the fire starter. Of the three Fuecoco feels the most original. Sprigatito looks like a grass type Litten, and Quaxley is just a better looking Ducklett. That being said I might change my mind if one of the evolutions looks more appealing.

For me I am going to use the Grass starter.

Unless the early game doesn’t have good fire or water Pokémon. Like in Gen 2 I always chose Chikorita because to me early game there wasn’t good grass types and I always used Growlithe on my team so fire was covered as well as either Dratini or Garados had my water covered.

All in all I really like the Grass Cat. I hope I get to use it,

When the starters were first revealed I really liked Sprigatito the best. However...Fuecoco really grew on me and now its the starter I want to go with...for now. I have a fear that they'll make Sprigatito go bipedal and I'll have to relive Litten again so Fuecoco is a safer bet. Fuecoco's description also lets me believe it won't go the Fighting or become a "fighter" like Incineroar or Cinderace. The only way I'll pick Sprigatito or Quaxly is if their final evos become Steel. I just hope we don't get monotype starters again...that would really kill me inside.

Duck boy for me. He's the only one that feels like he has a personality. The others look like Digimon or something. Of course, I will definitely need to see what the evolutions of each starter look like before I fully commit to any of them. If Quaxly has a terrible final form, then I will be forced to choose another.

I basically always wait for final evolutions before I commit to picking a starter (with the exception of Legends Arceus as I was not aware those starters were getting new forms).

I do decide who I would pick only knowing the first evolution though I just don't commit to it just yet. For example in gen 6 I liked Fennekin the most initially and still chose it in the end. Gen 7 I like Rowlet with Litten in a close second originally but ended up picking Popplio in the end. Gen 8 Grookey was my initial fave but I ended up choosing Scorbunny.

With gen 9... Right now I probably like Sprigatito the most though I do like all three of them. As per usual though I'll wait to make my final choice until we know more.

This is hard because this time i like all of the designs equally. I am waiting to get a look at their evolutions, that should help in narrowing it down XD

I love how its all tied up right now haha. For me, I always choose the water starters! But I am super tempted to pick Fuecoco

I always go for the water starters, so Quaxly will be my buddy! That being said, if I like the final evos for the other two as well, I may end up trading early for them.

First impressions, I was drawn immediately to Sprigatito because grass is one of my favorite types and I love cats, and I most often always pick the grass starter, but more and more I find myself wanting to choose Fuecoco because I dig reptilian starters too, such as Chikorita, Serperior and Charizard. I agree he has the most unique design out of the three, but it all comes down to final evolution designs and typings. They don't necessarily need to be dual-typed. Mono-types are pretty great too imo

I honestly find Fuecoco charming because he's round and derpy, and a food-themed starter? That's really cool and hasn't been done before when it comes to starters. I know we have other food mons like Swirlix/Slurpuff & the Vanillite family, Bounsweet & Cherubi, and Alcremie, and the Applin family. I mean, Fuecoco may not 100% be based on a chili pepper/cocoa bean, but it's a fun idea nonetheless. If I do pick Fuecoco, hopefully Gen 9 adds some good grass types to catch and raise
