Have you ever looked at a Pok?mon and said: "Why is it 75 to 12.5? It should be the other way round"?

Well here's a thread for you to share!

I honestly think Eevee should be 50/50.

Togepi should be 75% female and 12.5% male.

Mr Mime shouldn't even have a chance of being a female.

Mr. Mime is a female/male Pokemon because it's Japanese name doesn't reference pronouns at all and is simply Bariyaado (Barrierd), plus it's a Gen I Pokemon and genders didn't exist in Gen 1 (par the Nidoran family). I guess the developers could have made it 100% male when they introduced genders because of the localized name but whatever.

But it had the ratio before Togekiss

I know, but still.
The whole evolution line looks more feminine than masculine.

Yeah. I didn't know its Japanese name, so its nice to know, thanks.

With some more feminine-looking Pokemon, I think a 50/50 gender ratio is pretty weird. Misdreavus and Mismagius, the Ralts line (before Gallade was introduced) and Lopunny come to mind as Pokemon that look feminine, so a higher rate of females would make sense for them.

if we had pink cutesy animals irl that bred sexually im sure the boys wouldnt not be pink just because theyre males. infact, the males would have a higher chance of being pink and flashy. most male birds irl are much flashier and sometimes more "feminine" than their female counterpart. but yea, animals in nature dont really care about looking how we percieve femininity and masculinity. it makes more sense that pokemon would have seemingly random gender ratios than apply to our gender roles.

Why does Gothitelle even have a chance at being male?

Eevee should have a 50/50 chance
Rufflet only being male
Lileep being generally male
Zorua being generally male
Amaura generally being male
Granbull/snubull generally female
Pyroar being mostly female
Vullaby/Mandibuzz being only female

In general I think it is odd when the humanoid ones have a gender, but I guess it is fine. It's just a bit odd. Maybe if they made sure that there was some sort of gender difference in the humanoid ones? I don't know.

bUT Amaura is fabulous. it should be 50/50 and granbull looks more male

Actually for Pyroar it makes perfect sense for it to be mostly female because there are significantly more female lions than males. From a site that I looked at it said that only 1 in 8 male lions survive until adulthood and that for every 2-3 female lions there is one male. http://www.livescience.com/41572-male-lion-survival.html

It's kinda strange but I think the developers might have a good reasoning? It never really bothered me though.
