Another famous person has died this year. This time, it?s George HW Bush, the 41st President of the United States and the father of former president George W Bush. He had several health problems within the last few years, but the latest infection he got has killed him.

It?s been 12 years since the last time a former president died (Gerald Ford). It?s also worth mentioning that First Lady Barbara Bush died within the same year.

I knew this was going to happen, ever since 2015, but he survived all these years. Now it?s time for him to rest.

I always liked George Sr., he seemed like a nice and well-meaning guy, which is unusual for a politician...

plus, he was a moderate, which is highly unusual these days in a politician.

overall i think he did well for the USA; his foreign affairs approach was the right one for promoting freedom in Eastern Europe too, which helped make the world a bit safer.

rest in peace George Sr.

Did you know? As of now, only four former presidents are still alive:

- Jimmy Carter
- Bill Clinton
- George W Bush
- Barack Obama

Whether or not someone agrees with the actions of a president, it is still polite to show a recently deceased person some respect for the life that they lived. Thank you for your service Mr. Bush.

He wasn't in office during my lifetime, but I do appreciate him putting his time and service into our country.

What's freaky to me is pretty soon the only living presidents will be the ones I actually lived through.

I know. Even I was never alive when George HW Bush was president.

I feel bad for the Baby Boomers though. They lived in a time when a sitting president got assassinated. Those who are still alive today have lived through the times 8 different presidents (including a sitting president) died. They might live through the day of Jimmy Carter’s death as well.

There was also a time when two presidents died on the same day (Thomas Jefferson and John Adams).

is it bad that stephen hillenburg's death affected me a lot more? seriously i'm still trying to get over that :(

No it isn’t. Normally, I wouldn’t make threads announcing another person’s death, but this guy was once president of the United States, so I brought attention.

Of course not. I wasn't around when he was president so his death doesn't effect me as much but I grew up watching Spongebob, Spongebob was my childhood.

Regardless of how you feel politically, he was still an honorable man who served our country in so many different ways. He did his best as our president and lived a long and remarkable life.

RIP thank you sir

Of course not. Stephen Hillenburg was a complete shock. And Idk how old you are , but you might not have any memory of Busch being president. Spongebob was a huge part of everyone?s childhood and an amazing cartoon

He lived a long live and did a satisfying job in office. My dad would also brag how he met him once at a dinner (He was a marine at tge time). He was also definitely better than his son

Definitely RIP to him. I don't know his policies enough to form an opinion, which the only thing I do know is he wasn't exactly the greatest on the HIV epidemic in LGBT Americans, I at least hope he was vaguely nice.

I'm not a Republican, but I do admire how George H.W. Bush was probably one of the most moderate presidents we've ever had. Definitely something you don't see in the Republican Party anymore, especially now that Donald Trump is president. Remember, Bush didn't even vote for Trump in the election.

In some way, Stephen Hillenburg’s death is more shocking, I agree. While most of us weren’t even alive when Bush Sr was president while SpongeBob played a large role in our childhoods, George Bush was over 90 years old. Stephen Hillenburg wasn’t even 60 when he died. 57 may be considered “old” by many standards, but that age is considered “young” for death. In the contrary, Bush Sr was part of a greater legacy where those who are part of it will never be forgotten.

Yeah, respect to anyone not being a Trump so to say. RIP.

I just have to say it like it is: after Bush's son and now Trump, I don't think there's a such thing as a good Republican president anymore.

We need another Reagan.

Not saying that his domestic policy was great and his promises were kept, but he was still a light in everyone's heart and that's who we truly need in these trying times.

(Though we do also need someone who really knows what tf they're doing)

Agreed. I just learned a lot about him in my modern American history class, and he actually wanted to appeal to both conservatives and liberals. Idk about yall but I'm tired of having radical people lead our country.
