i had tangy in both my wild world and new leaf towns and really liked her. i sort of forgot about her this game, but i just recently had her move in and now i love her so much again!! same with jeremiah, i loved him in wild world, felt neutral about him when i first got new horizons, got him for nostalgia's sake, and now i adore him.
surprisingly, this wasn't the case with bob. he was my absolute favorite in wild world and new leaf, but i didn't really care for him in new horizons.
what have been your experiences getting reunited with villagers you had in past games?
i had axel as a starter villager in new leaf and i absolutely adored him ♡
he was my fave villager for ages, so i decided to get him again in new horizons but now i just find him pretty annoying and got rid of him in the end
i also had stitches in city folk and he would freak me out because of his eyes, i was pretty young at the time so i was allowed to be scared lol
then i got him randomly on new leaf and again on new horizons and over time i have just grown to love him ♡
and finally i got julian, marshal and diana randomly on new leaf and instantly fell in love with all of them and i got them all as amiibos so i could get them again in nh
but because i cycle villagers so much, out of those 3 i only have julian atm ☆
I've had Tangy since WW so naturally I had to get her in NH and I love her just as much as I always have. Also got Bob back too, love him! Looking back, I kind of regret getting them so early on. I sort of filled my town up with dreamies and now it's hard to let them go when I want to give new villagers a try.
I've had Pierce in WW, CF, and NL, so I knew I needed him in New Horizons as well! While I think I still prefer some of my other villagers to him, he has such a special place in my heart and I will never let him leave haha. I had Sterling, another eagle, as my starter jock, and I found it was a weird transition going from having Sterling back to Pierce. But I won Pierce in a giveaway and he is beyond precious! I also love both the interior and exterior of his house!
The only other villager I have nostalgia for is Gloria, and I don't ever plan to have her on my island because she's... well, Gloria.
I had Moe and Tom in new leaf for years and have them again on my island. I love them both.
I also got Kabuki who I had for a time in new leaf and really liked. I love these three.
When I was young and playing animal crossing on the gamecube and other games I loved Olivia and Static.
I had both of them on my island, but didn't really connect with them in new horizons.
When I got the game I didn't know about how the beginning villager houses worked, so I reset until I got some villagers I liked, one of which was my old pal Pierce from NL! Unfortunately, I'm gonna have to let him go if I want him to have a decent interior to live in. D:
A much more positive reunion was with Julian and Phoebe, both of whom I got much later and will almost definitely be keeping forever now! It's so nice to run into old friends.
Gruff, Sally (who used to be called Hazel), and Filbert are all former residents of Avalon, my ACGC town. Lolly and Purrl were in NL. The other 5 are all new faces.
I find the NH normals unbearable... like... they are so boring. Merengue and Marina haven't really clicked with me this game. But Marina sings a lot, it's cute.
i had renée in new leaf, and i loved her so much. she was adorable, and i loved her ferocity. i found her randomly on my first nook miles ticket and i still love her the same!
Vesta's been in different towns throughout the years - when I was a kid playing on GCN, at least once in NL. So I was thrilled to see her as my very first mystery islander when I had my very first plot I could invite somebody to.
Bob's also been my favorite and in basically every town I've ever had. He came to my campsite one day recently, and I was really happy to see him (and that he apparently wanted to see me!), but I actually didn't invite him for fear of not wanting him to ever leave. I'm enjoying making new friends right now, and I have his amiibo card if and when I'm ready for my buddy to come home.

currently, the only villager that i have that i’ve had in a previous game is beau - he’s been one of my favourites ever since before new leaf was released in NA and while i wasn’t planning on having him this time around, i ran into him during an island tour and couldn’t resist him. he’s now one of my permanent villagers again and while i’m not as obsessed with him as i was when i was 11, i still love him and am glad to have him around <3
It's Rolf! I had him in Wild World and New Leaf as my favourite villager and I was stoked to find him on a mystery island. So I invited him.
I was a little worried about whether I will still feel the same about him as I had in the other games but that was an unfounded fear. I love Rolf. I talk to him every day. I wish the game allowed us to hug villagers because the first one I'd hug is Rolf. I'm also pleased with his New Horizons house and interior. So much cooler than what he had before.
The only villager I reunited with in this game is Gruff. Yes, some people may not find him to be a good looking villager, but I disregarded his looks as I made memories back in New Leaf. From that game, he's my starter villager (I established my town back in 2015) AND he's my birthday twin.
Story on how I got Gruff in New Horizons: I was island hopping to find a new villager I can take. At the same time, my stomach was hurting all of a sudden and I don't know why. Despite the pain, I still went island hopping to find new villagers to meet. Finally, on that island where I saw Gruff, I was pleasantly surprised. Not only was I happy, but the stomach pain went away too! I did not hesitate to invite him to my island and I'm glad I got to meet my old friend again.
I've had punchy in every animal crossing game i've played so it was a given that i'd get him, i had scoot in NL and he ended up being my starter jock in NH and he fit in fine so he's sticking around too. i've had a few more villagers from NL on my island (bob, rosie, ankha) but none of them really hit the same as they did on 3ds, and i'd rather make new favourites.
I had a similar experience as you did with Bob, but with Daisy.
Shes been my absolute favorite for many years now. I first had her in City Folk, she gave me my first in game nickname too and I loved it.
I have her amiibo and scanned her in.... but after about a week of having her, I felt something was different, off... I didnt like her so much. It comes down to the subtle changes they made to her appearance and size of her model, I think. She was much cuter when she was a bit shorter and her fur coloring is kind of different now.
I'm not sure why such small changes made me boot her off my dreamy list, but it did. I feel bad about it! Lol... thinking of inviting her back to try again.
On the other hand, Bluebear is now my absolute favorite. I've never even had her before and I didnt instantly fall in love with her, but now I'm super attached. The normal personality used to be my favorite, but I just love her so much looool...
Before getting New Horizons I was playing a lot of Pocket Camp. Haven't checked back on my campsite in 2 months, but someone I bonded with was Antonio.
I posted about him in the Looking For thread and someone said he was moving out! I traveled to their island and got him to come to mine. He is the cutest and I'm so happy he's finally back :')
I had Static and Muffy in NL - they are permanent residents on my island! In NL I had some villagers that I really bonded with like Roscoe but I felt he 'overlapped' too much with Static (their interiors look very similar) so I had to say bye to him I do have his amiibo though so I can invite him back anytime!
So in WW I had Nan and Chevre, who put their houses next to each other and seemed like the best of friends. I think they could be sisters but they could just as easily be a couple, they make the perfect duo. Their houses are almost identical, except one is all white and the other is all black. I remember thinking it was an amazing coincidence to get them both as starter villagers and then for them to put their houses right next door to each other.
Then in NH it happened again! Granted, I got them both from island-hopping when I first started the game and had several open plots, but I wasn't looking for them. I randomly got Chevre on one of the first islands I ever visited, and jumped to adopt her immediately... thought to myself "wow I'd love to get Nan as well, but what are the chances of that." ...Next island I went to, there was Nan! so I adopted her too, and of course I put their houses next to each other again.
Then of course I was even more delighted to see that each had a photo of the other in her house.
So I never expected to find any of my old WW villagers (I have barely played NL) soon in the game, but one day during island hopping I came across Whitney! She was in my very first AC town ever, and I am so happy to have her again! She's as graceful as ever, and luckily her personality has not been a disappointment yet. She will stay forever.
I also have Peanut now, whom I also had in WW. She's still great! Unfortunately I can't say the same of Agent S.. she doesn't fit the peppy personality in this game at all.
The rest of my town will all be new faces to me, but I am so glad to partly relive my WW days

Edit: another disappointment for me was Static. Apparently his mouth was changed in NL, and now he hasn't got his grumpy little mouth anymore sadly this is a reason for me to not really care for him anymore.
