helo i purchased avatar animation like ... 2 years ago and i never rly used it and i went to put a gif as my avatar and it doesn't work, i tried it with it hidden and unhidden, and tried to do activation and deactivation and it still doesn't work . anyone else had this problem? does the file have to be rllly small or something? i made it 150x100 (which is my max av size due to av extension) but it exceeds the file size limit?? does it matter bc the size is as recommended? i can't make a gif any smaller a file size

idk if this is even in the right forum but yea help pls i am stumped

If I remember right, I think you'll need to link it externally, upload it to an image hosting site like imgur or photobucket.

still refuses to work, just says the remote file is too large. like i said, i can't make a gif any smaller a file size... any gif at all exceeds the file limit unless it has like 2 frames...

just don't see the point in purchasing avatar animation when it's pretty impossible to get a decent gif to work

Just tried it myself and seems to be working fine.

How big is the file you're trying to use?

150x100 pixels and it's 485 KB

i know it's way over the limit, but idk how to make it any smaller. i even tried making it 100x100 and it's too big. idk the only gif avatars i see are a couple of frames rather than a longer gif, which isn't like the gif i'm using at all. it doesn't bother me too much i don't mind my avatar now, but it'd be nice to use something i purchased if i ever fancied it

Well, yes, that would be the problem - it's almost double the allowed file size. Unless you're willing to trim the overall length, delete frames*, significantly alter the dimensions, etc... then it's not suitable to be an avatar.

* e.g. to bring down file size I often cut every 3rd frame, and repeat that again if it's still too large. The downside to this method is that it speeds up the animation.

You can. Nothing is stopping you ever using an animated avatar - you would just need to use one that is within both the dimension and file size limits.

yeah i understand. i'll try find a more suitable, smaller gif . since i have no idea whatsoever of how to crop gifs lmao!! thank you tina !! :>

If you post the .gif you were originally going to use I could try editing it if you want. Can't promise anything though before seeing what it is.
