Bulerias's Creature:
Okay, it's 7:30 AM where I am right now, and I just got up to get ready for my first REALLY professional gig. 800 people there, I am background music, and I will give out my business cards there... and then people might buy my CD (which is almost done, by the way... once it's done I'll post MP3s for you guys). In any case, though...

Oh boy. I can't say I'm feeling nervous, because I'm not, but it's kind of a weird feeling... Regardless, though, I am playing for an hour and a half straight from 11:30 - 1 PM, but I need to get there way earlier to set everything up, etc... And I have a lot of stuff to take with me.

Classical Guitar
Flamenco Guitar
Sheet Music
Sheet Music Stand
Foot Stool

etc etc.

And plus, I am getting paid for this. Don't know how much yet for sure, but I keep hearing that it's... a decently hefty sum for a performance of this kind. Also, a thing that surprised me was that (you guys should know that this gig will basically be in the building where my dad works, in the atrium there) my dad's manager sent out an email to the WHOLE WORK GROUP about me... Now that I did not expect.

People there are having high expectation... I just hope for the best and, hopefully, I will deliver. Wish me luck, guys, and keep in mind, I have another gig in a different building on the 25th.

WOW.

I'm not sure how old you are exactly Bul, I'm thinkin' its like 14-15 or somewhere around there... And you're really making something out of your life already! Congradulations!

Good luck!

I'm turning 15 on April 26th, so yep, your guess is right on the money.

:p

And thanks everyone for the kind words

^_^

MISSION SUCCESS!

DAANG. It was awesome, truly. People took at least 20-30 of my business cards, had too many compliments directed my way, too, a bit too much actually. 0_O More than I can handle in any case. It went great, though. The sound was phenomenal, atmosphere was awesome... Yep. Now my next gig is on the 25th in a different building, I shall be paid there as well.

Also, I met some BIG WIGS from the company... execs, managers, presidents, etc... Who knows, maybe they'll invite me somewhere too. <3

Thanks everyone.

I just got word that people are starting to "pre-order", so to speak, my CD, which is great. I'm pricing it at $6.99 + $3.00 shipping, so that's $10 a pop... So if I sell a 100 CDs, there's a thousand bucks for ya. D:

How much money did you get from the concert =D?
None yet, apparently I am getting paid after the second one. They're all one big shindig, it's a "Spanish/Latin American council" thing, and it's happening in two places, both of which I'm playing in... so yeah.

:p

I'm expecting to receive more revenue from the CDs than the concert itself...

Update, guys - one of the people who took one of my business cards has invited me to play at another location. She's paying me $100 for two hours of playing, it should be sometime in late July.

congratulations, you should learn ska, its fun. Look it up and let me know what you think.
Since ska is a kind of jazz, it gets a "thumbs up" from me.

:)

I can play anything though, by ear or from sheet music. I once learned a whole Brazilian piece by ear.

3rd wave ska is the best IMO, try it out and send me a sample. I'd love to hear it.

I'll look for some sheet music online, will do my best to figure it out.

Remember: up-beats and beat downs. Anyways, learn some reel big fish or the planet smashers, they're great ska groups, and I'd love to hear you do them.
