What i want to do is try not to reseat. I want to make a game that day and find the right island and then go from there. I remember i was playing NL and i had a town did so much and my step sister restarted hers and i was like oh ill do the same and ever since i wish there was a way to get it back.

One of my big goals is to attempt to be more creative with my town design. In all prior games, including New Leaf, I never spent much time customizing the town with patterns and so on. I have more or less played every game as if it were the GameCube game and kept a very under-developed (with the exception of PWPs), forest-feeling town because it has been my personal preference. An additional reason for doing this though is that even in New Leaf I felt rather constrained in what I could accomplish, and anything I tried never looked as good as just letting life happen and seeing what the town turns in to over time.

In New Horizons I think my attitude will shift a lot more toward customization of the landscape because of the outdoor furniture. The outdoor furniture adds such a complex level of customizability that will be impossible to resist. Additionally, the ability to round off the corners of paths (and presumably, patterns), will make customization all the more enjoyable. If we can truly place houses wherever we want as well, then it will be hard for me to resist giving the town a realistic "planned city" type feel.

I have pretty much done the exact same thing as you have, jeff. If I ever tried to start a path in the old games, I would give up half way through because it just felt too structured. I think New Leaf was often too much effort for too little reward. I didn't want to farm PWPs by doing the 5 minute scuba trick so I mostly just focused on flowers/trees and a natural look to my town. Since New Horizons looks like it will simplify some of the town organization aspects, I think laying out paths and town structure is inevitable and encouraged by Nintendo.

Same tbh, I'll try to reset as little as possible and I don't want to restart everything once I feel "done" this time around. I also want to focus more on decorating the town and interacting with the villagers, since I didn't really care for any of them except for my dreamies back when playing NL.

Maybe I'll finally be determined to finish my item catalogue and catch every bug and fish in this game to get a complete encyclopedia of them.
Maybe I won't opt for setting down patterns now that everything looks so neat and clean without it and you can make dirt paths easier.

Maybe I might not to time trav...
wait scratch that.
Maybe I won't be tempted to time travel as often in this game because there will be more to do and more to explore and villagers will have a lot more to say this time around. Well hopefully, anyway.

I always got stuck with the paths i either hated them or had to restart or didnt have enough. I never finished. I do hope they bring back qr codes in a way

I hope the paths they have come in more options.

My goals in New Horizons are:

1: Never Time Travel. I actually got depressed when I told myself not to.
2: Keep My First Town. Well, it would seem that those that have never restarted their town since release date are considered legends to me, and I certainly want to be one of those guys. I just have to plan out my river layout, etc and like it.
3: See the new/returning villagers blindly. Unless I see them in Directs or any other official methods by Nintendo, I'll make sure to not see the rest of the new/returning villagers by leaks/images of the released game and see them in my game blindly. That way, i'll be sure to like them at first glance or not.
4: 100% the entire game. I have never once completed the Encyclopedia, Museum, Badges, etc in any game at all, because I had too many restarts and was too lazy. However, this time, i'll be sure to 100% the whole game when it comes out. This includes gaining the gold tools the legit way.
5:Go Barefoot in the Winter. I know this is a random goal, but I really want to experience how the game will look like if I made my player character take off their shoes and socks in the winter. I did it in New Leaf, Happy Home Designer and Pocket Camp. I can't wait to do it in New Horizons!

Let me just say this: I never time traveled or restarted in New Leaf. While my town map may have not been the best, I don't regret playing in one town in real time one bit. Playing real time not only paces yourself, but you get burned out much much slower than if you time travel a ton. Not only this, but various accomplishments feel like real goals that have been achieved. So for those of you who are not planning to TT or reset, I hope you find it as rewarding as I did.

For my goals, I want to have better planning and a much better looking town. My town kind of hand flowers of each species thrown about and some badly placed PWPs. I'm looking forward to mapping out a much cleaner town layout.

my goal is to play slowly and enjoy that game (it is been so long, I can't wait). I don't wanna rush it and take my time to check what we can do in the island.

My goal is to stick with an island for longer than just a one week. I used to reset so so many times my
town in New Leaf because I always found something that bothered me. This time, I will try not to do this
again. Another goal is to try not to time traveling so much as I did in previous games. Besides this, I will
also try this time to finally realizing that one town theme idea I had in my mind for a while now. Just hope
you can plant cedar tree everywhere this time, this would help me a lot with working on my idea.

I want to complete the bug/fish/deep sea creature encyclopedia this time if there is one...as well as the museum.

No time travelling!

I'd also like to be more creative with my town design. Usually in past games I haven't really drafted things out properly & things don't end up working as intended.

My only goal is to reset until I get an island map I like. I want a layout I know I'll enjoy and keep playing on. I don't see a point in just picking one right away only to dislike it and want to start over.

Other than that, just gonna play day by day.

I want to complete my encyclopedias and the museum in general. Also I want to have a town that is perfect for me (paths, flowers, pwp's, everything perfect). And I want to archive most of the Nook Miles because I'm already obsessed with badges in ACNL

I can't really say until I know what is available, like PWP's, because my main goal would be creating a theme and landscaping around it.

I'm going to not reset and keep my first island. I want to catch all the bugs and fish that will be in the game. I'm going to try to interact more with the villagers than I do in New leaf. I want to try to get every item to complete my catalog. I want to try to 100% the game.

My main goal is to not let everyone else's opinions about maps influence mine. I let that happen with New Leaf and ended up resetting five times. By the time I found a layout I really liked, I was burned out on the game and abandoned it altogether.

My goal for NH is that I want to not time travel and stay consistent in this game. I'm hoping I can get another copy of the game after I play through it, so I can create a town with a theme I want. I also want to pick a map that I like and enjoy and stick with it. Once I find the map that I feel is home, I don't want to reset my town. :D Hoping for one good run through with this game.

I have quite a few goals for New Horizons. One would be to never reset my town and just go with the first town that is given to me. Another would be to not be overly picky about my villagers, even if they are ugly and poorly designed. I want to learn to love them all! I also want to take the game slowly, so if there is something that I missed for that day, I'm not going to time travel back just to do it. I don't want to ever time travel again, it ruined me so badly in New Leaf. X.X

I really, really want to be more creative. I know I have some creativity in me somewhere and I want to bring it out in New Horizons. I also want to be just a little more organized with things and make sure my town isn't too messy. One last thing too is that I'm going to make sure that when I pick my character, that I go with the right face style this time around, one that I really like. :)

I hope I don't have to time travel, but knowing myself and my schedule I probably will at some point. I also want to try landscaping much earlier in the game. With my first town, I didn't care about designing that much and I just grew hybrids everywhere. Then I was never satisfied when I did start landscaping because I found a million things I didn't love but at that point there was no way to move things or fix it because I had committed so much to my town.

I want to landscape every inch of my island perfectly, and if there are PWP's I would landscape them into my theme.

I want all the animals I like, that I've always had in previous towns.

I want to enjoy my island.

I will time travel if I can.
