golden slingshot glitch?

ok, i was laying patterns down because i want to save up grass, okay? and suddenly a golden slingshot hanging on 3 balloons is floating... i shoot it down with my silver slingshot, and it sinks through the ground and disappears.... glitch?

If anything falls down onto an area and there is no empty square adjacent to it it falls right through because it cant land.
Sort of like if you surround a tree with lots of patterns and shake the tree the fruits fall and disappear.

well, it looks like im not getting any snow furniture because my town is all dry... <_< but its worth for a gold slingshot and fruit which doesnt fall through ground...
