Hello, I recently downloaded FireAlpaca in an attempt to get back into drawing again. So far, I've only been messing around with doing random sketches by trackpad on my Macbook Pro. You can probably figure out that using a trackpad only adds more effort into sketches (and I believe I would be better off with a drawing tablet). In the past, I've had some kind of waccom bamboo tablet. From what I remembered, my drawings did not come out as I expected from using it last time. After that, I never really used it again and sold it as I focused more on traditional pieces of art.

This time, I would like to focus on digital drawing and practice more on OC's and possible adopts stuff. I've been practicing everyday like I said and have been continuously looking up guides and tutorials looking to improve. (If you have any good guides out there for coloring/shading or anything for FireAlpaca, be sure to let me know! Any would be greatly appreciated!)

My budget for any possible drawing tablet is $50, and if I have to, I'd be willing to go up another $20. I want a good tablet that I can control very easily and such. If you have any other suggestions to what I should be looking for, mention those as well! Also, it would be great if I could find on the tablet on Amazon as I have a couple of gift cards I could use up.

If you have any questions as to what I'm looking for in a drawing tablet and you need answers to help find your suggestions, just ask and I'll answer!

Thanks!
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hey, if they greatly improved over the years or whatever, I'd consider!

I don't think it's the tablet, I have a bamboo and it works great. Tablets just take a loooong time to get used to ( seriously, you should see my art from when I just got my tablet, it's terrible ) but if you practice enough it'll just become second nature to you.

As for tablets themselves, any by Wacom would be great. The cheapest I could find on Amazon are around ~$70, but just look around for reviews first to make sure it's right for what you want to use it for.

Wacom is definitely the best tablet-maker-company. I mean They only make stuff like tablets and digital-arts, it means they're good (lols) xD
I've got two tablets. The first one is my Wacom Intuos, Small, easy to take with you wherever you go.
My other one is The Wacom Cintiq 13HD - Which I'm curently having a problem calibirating the pen on, but when it works it's AWEOME.. Maybe not the cheepest stuff on the market but it's worth it.

This is probably not helpful to you but I draw exclusively on my iPad using ibispaint ... I hand sketch first in my sketchbook, take a picture of my pencil sketch and upload it to ibis paint to be traced and coloured and shaded ... etc ... it works for me, and if you are already a mac user (do you have an iPad?) you can try it without the expense of a tablet.
PS: ... On the iPad, I use my finger mostly, but also an ordinary Jot capacitive touch stylus

I got my tablet off of amazon, its a "ugee m708 graphics tablet." Its bigger so theres more space if you need it, also, on the ipad, theres this app that i used to use called "sketch club" heres a link to it if youre interested, its $3 and you can even post your art to their little deviantart type of thing for other people to see, but thats optional
Hey -?(?`v??)-?THANK YOU!
I am on my Mac right now but took a quick look ... I definitely will purchase that app ... it looks very cool! I like the option of posting and sharing too! ♥ ♥ ♥

I use the same kind of drawing tablet as my sister which is the Wacom Bamboo Tablet. It was affordable and it feels pretty nice for newbies like me.

I have a Wacom Intuos pen :) There is a newer model out now but mine cost ?50 from Argos and included a couple of free art programs. It does take some getting used to (I guess any tablet would) but once you get the feel of the pen, it's much better!

For software, I used Firealpaca and Photoshop Elements 7.0. (I don't want to upgrade as I have heard the lightening FX are not available in the newer version).

The only thing I found was, the nibs do seem to wear down quickly, unless it's just me who presses hard. Replacement nibs aren't expensive though (about ?2-?7 for a pack of 5).

Wacom tablets are good, but right now (since I don't have a job) I use mediabang. I use it on my android phone, and I don't know if it's for other phone brands, but it's pretty much the upgraded version of firealpaca (I think it's by the same company). It's free and has a lot of brushes to choose from (I like the watercolor and oil paint brushes the best). It also has unlimited amount of layers, and I found it really easy to understand.

I'll have to go back to look at Wacom Bamboo tablets again, but I found some other tablet that seems like a really good alternative called Huion H610 Pro Graphics Drawing Pen Tablet. Guess I'll just have to continue comparing these tablets.
