Gray Usernames?

So, I read in the introductions more about TBTF. They go in-depth about username colors and how 'we'll see' what gray means. I assume it's someone with a bad WiFi rating, but I'm still rather curious. I've never seen a gray username, or perhaps overlooked it. Can someone please tell me what a gray name means? Thanks!

There are usually no gray usernames, unless it's during Halloween where you become "cursed" with the dark candy collectible. That's when you can get a gray username.

Gray usernames *were* people cursed with the nasty Dark Candy (event is long over though, so you shouldn't see any)

Brown is bad wi-fi or banned; I've noticed they look really similar to each other, so maybe you're confusing them? :/

I always thought the grey username was for the Gyroid NPC that sends u a message after sending bells. I suppose that is brown tho, it is kinda hard to tell, haha

actually if you look at a banned person's username it will be brown so it's confirmed although it's really hard to see

Grey isn't just halloween specific, it happens on Friday the 13th sometimes too.
