So lately I've been doing some running around the forums, procrastinating like I do best.
And I hit a question.

Why do you guys love TBT?
(or BTB, whatever it's called now)

Is it just a pride thing, like "o look at me i'm richer than u ahaha"

Same with collectibles?

Do you all just have raging uncontrollable OCD?
Is it another ego thing, like "look. at. my. ten. perfect. cakes. SEE THAT? I AM PERFECTION EMBODIED.
YOU ARE ALL PEASANTS.

not to say anyones like this, but I don't see the point.
Like, whaaaa...

The top 3 reasons I feel I see:

1. Saving up for trading, whether it be collectibles, pokemon or whatever.

2. Bragging rights.

3. Other reasons.

There's a lot of things you can get with TBT. AC villagers, items, forum icons or signatures, collectables, etc.

Yea, I can see the reason why people would want them for in-game stuff. Heck, I trade my TBT in for IG bells occasionally. but collectibles? Guys, it's just an icon under your pic. Geez. People make such a big deal out of them lol. I just don't really see how they serve any kind of purpose.

It's bragging, pure and simple

Yea, that's most of what I see it used for.

For the collectables thing, it's all personal opinion. People collect for the same reason people get badges in ACNL.

It just depends on your own opinion really. Some people think they're not worth having and other people like having them.

I got a couple collectables from the shops just for the fun of it. I don't ever plan to use TBT to buy them from other people though. I find it more convenient to use for buying in game items because I dont always have time to go island bugging because Im busy with school and work.

That's typically how I use TBT, to make IG bells or maybe get an item or villager. But hey, I might wanna buy a cake sometime just for the heck of it.;)

I collect out of a sense of machismo. And once I get that dainty fair pinwheel I will be the epitome of manly manhood.

For me it started as art collection or getting signatures, then it warped into collecting collectibles. It's just a fun thing to do. We're all here because AC is in part a collector/achiever type of game, and well, collectibles is just another form of that. :)

Personally, I think it adds to the sense of community here on TBT. Technically, they serve no purpose outside of the forum. But take a look at how important they are here, how integral to the buying/selling/trading of the boards.

To me it's rad that a pretty niche forum can attract and keep enough active members to sustain it's own online economy. I enjoy being a part of it, and will continue collecting as such.

I just love collecting, man.
I found the collectible I liked most and went on a chocolate cake crusade and it just felt so good to accomplish it.

I like having BTBs because they're easy in-game money for people like me who suck at making money. A few million bells for BTB is great.

Saying this, I don't care too much for collectables: my pok?ball was a gift and the others were cheap.
