Idk, I was bored so I decided to do a recoloration of a Gyarados sprite. How does it look:

Yellow does not match Gyarados at all.
The black lines throw off the image.
Grey fins don't match the rest of the image.

UltraByte, I think the colors he picked are really good. I don't think any of the colors he picked threw off the image. The grey fin does look good it give it this unique style that this artist has.

^_^
I dont know how your style is, but a lot of people have their own styles.
Oh ya and Super_Naruto that was really good I really love your Gyarados it looks really cool. The way you picked the colors and how you made it shows your art style don't change just because people say to. Keep up the good work.

I was bored when I did this, otherwise I don't do anything "artsy". Thanks for the comments everyone, I think I'm going to do another one right now.

I like it. It's like a mecha-Gyardos, with gold-plated skin, and silver fins.

:D

yeah I thought it was to be gold and silver... just a little too mustard colored, and not enough shine

:p

The way you've been reviewing art, a bunch of scribbles could be excellent and anyone who says otherwise is an idiot because they have their own "style", sure people have styles but there still is that line of something looking GOOD that has to be unanimous.

Kino, just ignore JJ.

BTW, I like the Onix recolor too... not as good as Gyardos, but still lovely.

You can't do that, Invision Free is based in the US, and so I have the right to free speech. My advice is GOOD and it's the truth. Stop defending the guy because he's the only one who likes your brother's "work" (that is if you can call using a paint bucket on somebody else's art 'work')
I have nothing againsed Kino, it's just that he's using the term "style" to defend people too much. He actually seems like a cool guy and I'd like him to stay.

I personally think that recolors are not an art. =/ All you're doing is changing the colors on an image, not editing the dang thing at all.

Well, I'd have to disagree...It IS art, just not art of the highest quality or effort.
Pooping is an art. So yeah....anything is art.

I'm in the same boat in that I don't like recolors much...I'm amazed by the mutations, though. Those are pretty cool.

Yeah.

Mutations >>>>>>> Recolors.

But those are still good, SN.

Look... if you're just gonna tell someone you don't like their art because it's a certain something (for example, a recolor), please don't post in their thread. If there was a chance you'd like it, and you say what they can improve on, go ahead and post away.

Do you honestly believe I don't like it JUST because it s a recolour? It's colours are to basic, not enough blending with others so it looks mediocre, they are too intense to try to make them lighter and a bit (a BIT) more dull, it will make all the difference.
(by the way not liking something because it is a certain something is PERFECTLY valid, I have no doubt that for instance, you don't like a genre of music for no reason, it just isn't your taste.)
