I first saw them in Pocket Camp, so I'm glad they've brought it back again. It was so cool to collect them during event seasons in Pocket Camp.

Same here! I'm quite curious and looking forward to the new 'growing/planting/watering' aspect of them – gives me a lot of mystical, forest-y vibes~ And that's rather fitting for gyroids (since they come out in rain), especially the ones in New Horizons; they look literally magical and ethereal.

I am so glad they're back! I loved them in previous games, I'd spend ages finding just the right ones to compliment whatever music I had playing.

I like the new looks, but I hope there are some old 'retro' ones around. Or some more spooky looking ones!

I'm so pleased they are returning. They were my son's favorite thing in ACNL (his first AC title) and he was super bummed when they weren't in ACNH. My kids and I are just over the moon about everything to day, but my son is already planning his future Gyroid spaces on his island! <3

Love how they look now but...

The watering mechanic is something I have a tinfoil theory on. It's no secret for a long while people have assumed gyroids had to do with graves due to the figures resembling Haniwa. (Animal crossing is actually mentioned in the pop culture section!)

I personally keep thinking that the watering thing was added to separate that theory from the game due to how dark it was. Instead of just digging up funerary objects you now dig up what are essentially "weird magic plants".

Maybe I'm just overthinking though, lol.​

I thought they looked a little strange at first but the gyroids needed a revamp for NH in order to get people excited again. I expected them to be the same as New Leaf's design but I'm still gonna collect them all!

im so happy the gyroids are coming back!! i missed them so much... i want to put them all over my island so you can hear their weird little noises everywhere. i think they are really creatively animated in this update, i just hope the uniqueness doesn't mean less gyroids! i also hope they make the same sounds. i thought the howling ones and the gurling ones were really funny

also, i’m not sure why but this one immediately reminded me of an axolotl, so i’m extra excited for this lil guy:

Oh wow I had never heard of that!

I guess the strangely dark implications of them being something resembling Haniwa makes some sense with the origins of the game, maybe it added to that feeling of being a stranger in this place with it's own past and history.

But yeah, it's very dark haha I think your theory has some basis to it!

I loved the gyroids in past games but there were SO many of them and only 3 (I think) would "sing" at the same time in your home so I gave up keeping them. If I remember correctly I filled up all of my upper level museum rooms with them and there still wasn't enough space. The new ones here look so adorable!

I always loved how weird the gyroids were, but now that they're even cuter and more customizable I'm really looking forward to them even more!

There a more cute now and different shapes. I think they would look good in your home or outside like a gnome. They would be super cute in like a forest theme area.

The addition to the gyroids is the best thing ever. I was so sad when they weren’t added at the beginning. They look a bit odd and small now though. I hope we get to see them bigger as well. I was kind of wanting to place them as vendors in stalls and such.

I was hoping the gyroids would return; I was so happy when they were shown in the Direct. I always loved them in previous games, and now I like them even more with their updated appearances.

This is my fear too! While the new designs are cute and I'm especially happy that they're making other people like them too, I really REALLY loved the fact that there were soooo many that collecting them was a huge task. I also loved that there were little "sets" of them, like the mega oomboid/tall oomboid/mini oomboid/oomboid. I hope that comes back. Or, I hope they mix the new designs with a few old ones too. Some of the old designs were a bit odd but some of them were cute, at least to me. I especially would love to see the mini echoid, as well as the timpanoid and gongoid sets return!!
