Resident Night Mare
OK, so maybe that isn't the most dignified mayor thing to do, but I'm so happy about how Salem is growing. Kicks opened up on Saturday, the Nooklings expanded their store to the T&T Mart, a campsite was completed in town, I got a new room on my house, and the Museum Shop should be opening today.
Kicks was so cute when I first came into his shop. He got all flustered, but soon recovered. I got the cutest pair of rainbow tights. I don't know when I'll wear it, although I do have the Lucky Rainbow Shirt (I think that's what Mabel called it. Something like that, anyway), so I could wear them together and pretend I was Rainbow Brite. lol
I got a megaphone from the Nooklings. That makes it easier to find my villagers. If I call and they don't answer, I know that they are either inside or on Main Street. It even worked for locating Joan. Not that I bought any turnips from her; the price was just too high - 108 bells. I'll wait another week to try my hand at the Stalk Market.
Even though it was raining, I was pleased to see several villagers turn out for the dedication ceremony of the campsite. With luck, we'll get a nice animal passing through whom I can convince to stay on permanently. Since I don't know where they will move in, and I really have my heart set on a certain location for the fountain, I think I'll have to get on that ASAP so I can claim the spot. I'd really prefer them to move into the east side of town, but if it's a nice animal, I'll deal with it.
I was surprised to see Blathers awake when I went in yesterday morning. He seemed upset, so I asked what was wrong. He said that attendance at the Museum just isn't as high as it should be and asked if I'd help raise funds to renovate the second floor for exhibits. It didn't take me long to get the bells together for that, so hopefully he'll be happy. Rumor has it that he's in touch with Brewster. Maybe I can talk him into helping me lure the pigeon to Salem... along with his wonderful coffee.
Sable was so excited to show me the new sewing machine Mabel and Label gave her. She still uses her old one, though, because she said she's nervous about breaking it. But she was kind enough to offer to let me use it whenever I'd like. Very sweet.
I now have three rooms branching off of my entry. They are all very small and don't really hold much, and I still need a basement, but from the outside, it looks great. I got the castle exterior with Fairy Tale siding and door. I still have a white picket fence and the red mailbox, but I'll upgrade those as soon as I see something I really like at Tom's. In the meantime, I planted some violets in front of my house - purple, white, and blue. I'm hoping to get more blue ones, and maybe I'll continue it up the sides, as well. Once I've established a flower garden, I may even surprise the villagers by planting flowers around their houses, as well.
The paths I've laid down are working well. I think I have them just where I'd like. I want to use bushes and trees to line them, then I'll pull the patterns up and have dirt paths throughout town. I got a few bushes from the island that are doing well, but I may have to wait for expansions on Main Street to really get them.
