happy Oktoberfest! does your town have any celebrations?

i guess the official Oktoberfest in Munich has ended already, but that doesn't mean the rest of the world can't still celebrate the season!

my town is having an outdoor Oktoberfest party next weekend,
altho i don't usually go i do enjoy having a few marzen lagers and bratwursts for the occasion

do people do anything where you live to celebrate Oktoberfest?

Yeah I think they have some kind of large event here because they need money... But tbh not a fan of small talking and getting drunk with random old people so no thanks.

My town is having a whole craft beer thing going on for it.

I don't drink though (yes, I'm above 21) so Oktoberfest is mostly pointless to me.

I agree with you that German food is good, but my problem is 1) I don't like drinking and 2) I don't care for drunks. I've tried to go to events like this in the past but I didn't have a good time because of the drunks.

I might make my own German food at home though!

i recommend googling whether its better to grill or poach the particular sausages you get
and its always a good excuse to pick up an apple strudel too

Where I live there isn't much, a few towns over had a little street fair for it I think, but I didn't do, as I am sick, and I have work.

No, there's pretty much barely any Germans here. Since we have a whole bunch of Portuguese people we have a whole bunch of Portuguese festivals. I hate it all though even though I'm Portuguese, I don't like being outdoors in a park with a bunch of people.

Yeah I bet we don't have many Germans here either than like tourists in the town areas or such but yeah, food+beer and making money, sigh.

Well as long as people aren't getting violent I guess although if it's random overly social people I don't know no thanks.

Oktoberfest was banned here recently lol.
I'm not doing anything because I don't drink much, but my room mate will probably stock the fridge with beers and make some good food to go with it, so maybe I'll have some during our horror movie nights.

Not really from a German area but every single town around here seems to have a huge Oktoberfest, and they're actually pretty decent to go to

If you like getting drunk and stuffed on food together with annoying music and being social I guess.

Eh, I can see why it would get banned.. but yeah here they are pretty much just makin' the dough.

My goodness, my mother would be extraordinarily thrilled by now. She adored the Oktoberfest. For someone is part German, of course I've got to celebrate!
