Has anyone been scammed on Nookazon?

I've considered using Nookazon in the past but after hearing a few scam stories I decided against it. I find using the forum a lot safer and more trustworthy when it comes to trading items and villagers.

I've only been scammed through their asking prices, lol. These folks would seriously pay an arm and a leg for the Rattan set, I swear. It's going to be interesting when the DLC comes out. I'm just curious to see how much the prices for the villagers who now have amiibo cards, especially Raymond, will drop.

I haven't been scammed but I've paid ridiculously high prices for items. Like, 40 NMT for a tree's bounty arch. And 80 NMT for my first mush lamp recipe. The prices there can be very high.

I almost got scammed on Nookazon when I was hunting for Raymond. I went to the person's island, and he asked me to drop my NMT. I dropped and expected him to lead me to Raymond's house. Instead, he typed "get scammed, kid" and tried to end the session.

I quickly exited out of the game before he'd had a chance to send me home, so luckily I didn't lose the NMT. I found another seller who had Raymond and let me drop half my payment before I spoke to Raymond, and half after. Needless to say, Raymond is never leaving.

I got scammed multiple times on Nookazon last year, the main times were me trying to get Raymond or other villagers. It's mainly just people trying to end after I drop the payment, and then other people just made the posting and accepted mine when they never had the villager to begin with.

Tbh I find Nookazon a little hard to get used to after being on this forum for so long so I just never bothered lol. Everything on here is a lot easier to work out and more people have ratings than I've seen on Nookazon. I was in their Discord at least but had to leave bc there's a lot of spam bots lately.

(sigh)....I really don't want to be reminded but I did get scammed last year. It was when I was trying to sell Raymond's Photo and someone made an offer of 100 nook mile tickets. I went to their island and they told me to "drop" the item and said "follow to payment" and then they just closed up their island by the time I saw the "Seems like its time to go home" bar above the screen. I knew for a fact I was getting scammed. So I turned off my switch hoping it didn't save the process, but by the time I went back to my island the item I had being "Raymond's Photo" was gone. It was then I got scammed. I remember feeling so angry, frustrated and outraged that I allowed this to happened to me.

Since then I have become very skeptical and cautious around people who I trade with and I always make sure that I don't ever like that type of stuff happened to me ever again. I really cannot believe there are people out there who do this type of thing. The good news however that the person who scammed me was banned from the site, however that doesn't end there. I was doing a trade where I was giving away Bluebear and someone offered 20 nook mile tickets. They came to my island and they just ran past me and went to Bluebears home. They didn't come out and drop their payment. Instead they tried to leave, but I was able to close my game and booted it back up and Bluebear was still on the island. The person gave me a 1 star review because they thought I was "rude" but because I am smart I recorded the footage, saved it as evidence to show to the mods and they believe it so the person was banned also.

I know people always say "oh I don't always get scammed" but you have to be aware there is some people who are very sneak and trying hard to scam other people so be very cautious when trading with others. Look at the reviews before trading and make sure you do it on your island so that way you won't have to worry about getting kicked out after dropping an item.

I've never been scammed on Nookazon, everyone I've traded with has been nice.

Thankfully not. I have my trigger finger ready to force disconnect the second they try to kick me out or enter my airport. Helps that I trust no one LOL. Although I'm not weary of those with little or no reviews. Mostly they're new and just need to build a reputation.

i find this forum so useful that I’ve never looked on Nookazon!
Yeah I feel that. Genuine art prices are crazy on there where as here I can earn the TBT needed in a day or so for a few pieces. Completed my museum because of Bell Tree <3

Never used, never will. Always traded here on TBT, and that's what I'm planning to do once the update and the dlc drop. Even being absent for a good chunk of time, I still remember who I can make safe trades, so I wouldn't even bother to find new players to do that.

I may give away some things like I did in the past, and I'll probably participate in the Toy Day event if it's anything like last year. I think we have a very good community here on TBT, and if you connect with the right people, you'll have nothing but fun. Just keep in mind that when people think it's "suspicious" for others to have acts of kindness, it's more about how life has been throwing this kind of people at them, so getting defensive becomes an instinct.

@Raz! Awww! I think this community is top tier by far! Absolutely! Good people= safe trades.

I have traded on Nookazon and had one bad experience. Got ripped 100 NMTs for an unboxed Stitches. 1/5 isn't bad but considering 100/100 on TBT is not great odds for Nookazon (discord). Plus, those who have been on here for a long time, may spot people by username and trust that alone because of word of mouth not necessarily by reviews. Close knit communities make it a lot harder for people to scam other people.

i’ve never used nookazon and have no plans to, but i’m a little confused as to how you’d be scamming people if you’re giving away stuff for free? you’re very kind for doing what you’re doing, but as greediness seems to be a recurring issue on there, maybe that’s where the other players’ confusion is stemming from, since maybe they’re not used to seeing or being given things for free.

like @/StarlitGlitch suggested, doing a few regular trades might help to ease suspicion a bit. you really are very kind to give away stuff for free, though, and i’m sure the people over on nookazon appreciate it, even if they don’t show it. <3

I’ve heard the horror stories but I’ve never been scammed personally (I’ve completed over 200 trades). Prices can get a little high but I also found those are the listings that don’t actually get bought/traded. The fairly priced items usually meet fair people.

I also think things are just slow in the ACNH marketplace right now as some people haven’t played in a while (less active players) or already acquired all they need. So don’t fret over no one wanting your free NMTs, I don’t actually think it’s related to scams

Nope. I never used the website and never will. I’ve heard way too many horror stories. My trading experiences here have been overall really good so I have no reason to go there.
