i was trying to move out plucky (who had moved in when i accidentally tt'd through an empty plot) so i could use the empty plot she left behind to use my nmt to hunt for raymond through the mystery island, which has not been my most lucky method of villager hunting, but i thought why not, it's fun, and last time i did it i got judy by accident!
40+ days of time travel trying to get rid of plucky, and i see isabelle announce that there's a campsite visitor. usually i don't have much luck with campsites either, i tend to exclusively get villagers i don't like through the campsite, but i checked just for the fun of it and...
there he is. the funny business casual cat, who i had spent easily 250+ nmt trying to find in the mystery islands like 2 days ago, in my campsite, drinking a coffee like he knew. i cannot express how much joy this stupid virtual cat sparked within me. i've had a rough week and this genuinely made my day, probably my week.
i couldn't not share this, and now i'm curious if anyone else has had one of these moments! have you ever managed to find a dreamie you've been hunting for entirely by accident through sheer dumb luck? if so, who, when, and how?
Oh yes I remember on my old island from last year I was getting so angry and frustrated trying to look for Molly. Spent a lot of Nook Mile Tickets looking for her and she never appeared. This went on for like 2 months, but one day in June 2020 when Isabelle told me that someone was at the Campsite I didn't think too much of it, since I was still in a bored mood, but then when I went into the tent I was screaming and I saw Molly! I was like "WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN?!" So I spent the next 30 minutes trying to convince her to move and I won the card game. She picked Ruby to move out which I didn't care so I said yes and thats how I got Molly! I guess the game felt sorry for me and decided to let me have her.
Earlier this year I was using the campsite method to hunt for Judy. I loaded up the game and Isabelle announced that it was Reneigh's birthday and that there was a visitor at the campsite.
"Maybe Reneigh invited Judy to her birthday party," I thought. Checked the campsite, it was indeed Judy! Thanks, Reneigh.
Absolutely!! I found Marina on the islands fairly early, and she was my top dreamie. My first camper was Lopez, who was a dreamie as well, as I had him on my New Leaf island. Sometimes, I get a villager I want and don't realize how much they mean to me until later too. I had Marshall in my campsite once, so I moved him in, thinking he'd just be a friend of mine. Turns out I love him to bits.
Well, yes, 3 times actually through the restarted islands I had:
My first island surprised me (And basically everyone else) on the forums here, so what happened was when I plopped my campsite for the first time I pondered extremely what my campsite villager would be and was seriously hoping it'd be either Eugene or Mr. Coveted. Two days passed and got my first campsite villager, be honest I was very afraid on who it would be, but I knew I couldn't progress without him so I took a look.
To my surprise it turns out it really was Raymond, I was so shocked to find out that it was HIM that was the first campsite villager for my island. I of course had to show it to others on here with my own thread and the whole forum BLEW THEIR MINDS ON HOW LUCKY I WAS TO HAVE RAYMOND AS MY FIRST CAMPSITE VILLAGER! (I bet they were jealous too). I had to take him no matter what, but thankfully he is on my dreamy list. Still have him today despite restarting that island.
The 2nd time was Cashmere:
On my 4th island I wanted to go villager hunting, and of course on my very first ticket who do I find? Cashmere that's who! (Yes I like Cashmere, don't judge me...) Take her I had to, and it was the highlighted villager I wanted to hunt for.
This will probably be the first and last time I find a highlighted villager I'm aiming for at the Nook Mile islands again.
And finally, the 3rd being Eugene:
This is my most recent (And probably last) Island. I had my first campsite villager and really hoped it was the aforementioned Eugene/Raymond, it was neither of them and got Chops instead. No to the thank you! I wasn't out of luck juice however as I got Eugene as the 10th villager autofill when I was filling the rest of the villager plots after you invite the mandatory first campsite villager. One of my lucky villager moments.

I saw I had a random camper once and, of course, I always feel that little rush of excitement. But then I remind myself it'll probably be someone I dislike (I've had Clay multiple times...) so I tried to temper my excitement. My mom was downstairs as I went to see who I got, and I was like, "I have a camper, neat." And my mom was like, "Yay! ...I think?" and as I'm entering the tent I say, "Well, MAYBE yay, sometimes it's someone cute but sometimes it's- OHMYGOD IT'S MAPLE! MAPLE IS HERE!" Maple is one of my top favorite villagers, and literally the first villager I ever had, so I'd been planning on getting her in ACNH at some point. I was SUPER excited and scared my mom a little bit Anyway, I got her moved in (my first time moving a villager in via campsite with a full island, lol, I was SO nervous I'd mess up) and she lived on my island for quite awhile before moving on. I also found Shep pretty early when hunting villagers- he was on my "shortlist" or "will immediately take if I find them" villagers!
I got lucky a number of times, on my main island I found both Wade and Hopper on my first NMT’s when I was not looking for them. Aurora showed up in my campsite a couple days before I brought home my puppy Aurora.
On my second island I found Sprinkle and Skye on my first and second NMT’s.
I was planning to move in Cherry by Amiibo card but the first time I started the game, she was already there, along with Dom who was one of the jocks I wanted.
Molly usually ends up on my town/island whenever I play animal crossing. She was a starter in 2/3 of my New Leaf towns, I found her in New Horizons on my first island and now she’s a starter on my second.
Yep, I got Julian recently this way. Had an open space in my town and a camper on the same day, I knew I needed a smug or sisterly villager so I figured it would be one of those. Was trying not to get too optimistic that it may be Julian, but there he was in the tent waiting for me.
Out of the new ACNH villagers I was most interested in Raymond, and I believe he was my second campsite visitor! (I kept a journal for a year so I could always look in there to verify)
Rosie is my all-time favorite AC villager and she was a campsite villager shortly after.
They're both still on my island (although I may let go of Raymond eventually).
I got sherb, merry, rosie, spike island hopping. Also, dom but I gave him away (need to find him again).
I got Judy at my campsite. She wasn’t a dreamie but I became super attached to her.
Non-dreamies that I found and invited to temporarily stay were: Cyd, Reneigh.
I haven’t had that many significant changes to my villagers, but hoping I will soon. I plan on moving out Reneigh and cycling. Judy was also temporary but am holding onto her until I somehow manage to get hold of the amiibo cards.
