I read it very recently and loved it so much. I read it through pure leisure rather than schoolwork. The ending was just ... I mean, I saw it coming, but it was still so bizarre, y'know?
Yeah I originally bought it because of Diamond Dogs hahaha but it turned out to be one of the novel selections for my English 12 course anyway so I think that's when I read it and then had to write a gigantic dumb essay about it.
I know I had to read it in school, but I can't say I really remember anything about it. XD I was a slackers and only concentrated on things that personally interested me so...
I read it at school. I saw a picture a while ago of a blue commemorative plaque on the wall of the house George Orwell lived in when he wrote the book. Beside it, mounted on the wall, was a security camera. Yes George Big Brother is watching you.
I voted no, but just recently I have read it (I forgot about it whoops). For some reason, my high school didn't use 1984 as a required reading & I certainly haven't had the chance to read it in any of my college classes. I had to buy it and read it on my own, which is all the same because I still enjoyed it.
I read it back in grade 10 (age 15) and it's definitely one of my all time favourites! There is a lot to be learned from it while containing warnings that more people need to acknowledge.
i HAVENT!!! i was going to read it for my research paper for english class, cuz i thought we already owned the book (we 100% do) but i couldn't find it ANYWHERE. so i read fahrenheit 451 instead (the fact that f451 is on the banned books list is so horribly ironic i hate it). it's something i definitely want to read someday though. if only i can find the stupid book...
I have the book on my bookshelf, but I haven?t had the time to read it (CURSE YOU, COLLEGE, AND YOUR TONS OF ASSIGNMENTS T~T). I?m hoping to read that and a bunch of other stuff once the semester is finished.
Loved the book. It opened me to the whole dystopian-world genre which is actually quite a pleasure to read and compare with society today. Would recommend!
