I'll be honest, I've been trying to design my island for the past three days now. I have ideas, I just can't seem to get them onto paper. Well, the island designer website. Internet paper, I guess?

It might be just that I'm trying to be a bit more perfectionist than I'm comfortable with, since I don't really want to do any major overhauls to the landscape with this island like I did my last one... I haven't even flattened my island yet. Maybe I should do that first. Perhaps it'll motivate me.

Anyways, what about you guys? Experience any roadblocks with your island, or something else related to the game so far this year?
Even though its only been, like, five days.

My eternal roadblock is the lag problem. I'll feel motivated to work on a build but the second I notice the frames start to drop I lose interest and just tear it down. I really just can't stand feeling like my island is running on dial-up or something, but due to my rather clutter intensive decorating it seems unavoidable.

On a lesser note the other roadblock is my peninsula which I still can't figure out what to do with. The narrow yet long layout is killing me. I don't want to just drop a lighthouse there and call it done but that's about all that can fit on there...

For me, it's the autosave. I would like to experiment a lot more and fix some smaller mistakes, but I can't for the life of me (re)create natural-looking riverbanks so the river stays where it is. A few timesI had to work on waterscaping and it was a pain to get back to where it was before when my plans didn't quite work out.

If there was a way to just undo everything since you started the terraforming app, I'd be able to try out so many things.

(And when Sylvana still lived on my island she used to plop her fuzzy butt down in the exact spots I wanted to lay paths, so she was a literal roadblock.)

My roadblock is designing a 5th playable character that I actually like.

I have 4 players that I absolutely love how I designed them, but the 5th has me stuck. Since I can’t think of what to name them and what theme to make them, the area where their houses will be is not decorated. I can’t decorate that area unless I know what I’ll name them and what theme they will have.

All of my characters have names that correspond tot heir houses and their themes.

I know that I don’t really need 5 characters, but the unevenness of how they look on the map bugs me. I need my map to have an even number of circles that align.

So here I am struggling to come up with something. I’ve deleted and renamed that 5th Character like 100 times already.

Designing my my main island has been a struggle. I finally figured out where to put my villagers houses but struggling with how to decorate them. Also hit a roadblock with my own house and museum. I will eventually figure them out.

I've exhausted all efforts of designing the past year and half. I don't want to force myself to make any changes to my main island even if it means that when the new items when the 2.0 update came out I don't want to go back to that same feeling of tearing town my island. I done it too many times that its no longer fun. I completed the museum 10 times and I seen all of the villagers I needed to see so I can safely say I am done with most parts of the game.

The only things I have left to do is to get the last set of villager photos and then I can finally put this game down for good. Considering that Nintendo has said last year that was the "Last Major Update" and there are no plans for anymore DLC I don't really suspected anything else. Unless if they are willing to add small updates like QOL then I don't seem myself playing this game any longer in 2022. I hate to sound negative, but this is how I've been feeling at the moment. I have other games to play anyways.

I HATE LAG SO MUCH. My island is such a normal town and when we get near the community garden and orchard which other than the plants and trees there is only fencing and A SINGLE SCARECROW AND WHEELBARROW it starts lagging like CRAZY. It discourages me because it hurt inside seeing lag :( I just want a cute island! In NL even when people would hack the game and add INSANE number of trees flowers weeds and PWP's there was never a frame of lag! :( Sadness. I guess NH is just to pretty for the switch lol😆

I think today I came to the conclusion that I want to terraform more and move all my villager's houses to the beach before perfecting their little neighborhood. It's gonna be a lot of work, but I'm excited to have a plan in motion. The real roadblock I have is making a lot of the existing areas look good.

This sounds dumb, but I'm very very excited for whatever future game if ACNH is this good

Yep, I've been suffering from ACNH burnout recently which resulted in me not playing for a good few days and even not bothering to participate in the New Year's countdown (I time traveled to see the countdown at a later date instead). It's been the same with designing as well, after finishing the majority of my last big build I just hit a roadblock when it came to creativity in general. It's only been today that I think I have an idea which will work well in a large area I have that won't be too much work or become some over the top complicated design with lots of terraforming that will just result in me overthinking it all and getting fussy.

I just can't seem to get anything done lately. I have a bunch of areas left on my island that need to be filled with...something, but I can't for the life of me decide what should go there. And then I try to start on one area but get distracted by how it should flow into the others and then I decide to just fly to Paradise Planning where the items are free and the living is easy~

I don't know if this is just a 'me' problem, but I felt a lot more motivated to decorate in the fall, when my island still had some color to it. But I got busy with work irl and missed out on a lot of prime decorating time. Now my island is all snow, and everything looks out of place...guess it's on me for not time-traveling, but spring will come eventually I suppose :/

I know what I want to do for areas, but I can’t get around to doing them I guess. I don’t have online, so it’s hard to get items I need (I often make do with what I have, even if it diminishes the quality of the builds). I also kind of struggle to get an exact idea, especially now that I have do ALOT of terraforming. Making a forest is hard lmao. So I’ll deal with it when I have more motivation, I hope soon.

I've been working on a canal and its hard to get the same aesthetic as I see on my pinterest feed, lol.

Mostly I'm just frustrated it didn't come out the way I wanted it to.

I think everyone's struggled with this. Terraforming is tedious and annoying, but you're going to have to get over your fear of potentially doing something to your island you regret to get the island you want

I am sure not mine is really a road block or an inconvenience.
As soon I go in my house to decorate one of my villagers comes over and then I totally forget what I wanted to work on in my house. If I run into my house for something or to craft they never show but if go to redo a room or change something Poppy shows up to chat and look around.

My biggest problem is I struggle to see "the bigger picture" when i design so literally, and i mean this sooo literally, every time i start designing my island i flip out and end up resetting the entire thing. i guess thats kind of a roadblock? i have such an interesting theme this time around though so im going to really try my hardest and take it slowly and do my best :(

Don't overdo yourself. I did that once and It affected my mental health..

I like to keep my town pretty natural looking, so I don't tend to do a huge amount of terraforming. I did recently make a bunch of changes to my island layout in terms of villager houses, redecorated / rearranged my character's house and surrounding outdoor area, redid all NPC houses and outdoor areas, and redid a few areas of my town. Previously I had a small pumpkin patch, the campground, a farmers market, a picnic area, a pizza shop, and a playground I had cleared out and left empty for months on end. I changed the empty playground into a community garden, changed the picnic area into a little outdoor cafe, redid the campground, updated the pizza kitchen, and I'm redoing part of the farmer's market. I have a couple new empty areas of my town to do stuff with that I haven't totally decided what to do with yet. I have some outdoor furniture I want to place around so we'll see if that helps inspire anything.

My roadblock is burnout or creative block, i can go on decorating sometimes or just not do it at all
