Has anyone seen the movie or the musical? I've been interested in seeing the movie and I want to know what you guys thought of it. :)

I’ve never seen it, but I’ve heard it’s a great movie. I wouldn’t be opposed to watching it.

It's a classic. There are aspects of it that haven't aged well in relation to recent history and social change, so I'm unsure how it would appear to someone watching it for the first time in 2021, but it is a good film. Just keep in mind that it is very much a product of it's time.

I’ve seen the movie and I wasn’t aware there is a musical. The movie is okay, it’s kind of overrated imo.

I agree with this. I watched it back in the '90s and loved it. I haven't seen it since so my memory is a little foggy, but I know there are questionable things that would never be done in a new movie today. I think it's worth a watch as long as you keep that in mind.

I also didn't know there was a musical.

I watched Heathers for the first time back in 2019 since it was on Shudder, a streaming service that I've periodically used for a number of years. I'd heard mention of it before then and heard that it was good, so I gave it a watch. I enjoyed it for the most part and would recommend it since you're interested, though like Vrisnem and LadyDestani point out, there are a few aspects which don't age well in today's social climate.

I love it! I’ve heard a few songs from the musical too and they’re pretty catchy.

If you are already interested I would say it's worth a watch.

I watched Carrie Hope Fletcher's youtube videos from around the time she was in the musical production and that's what initially sparked my interest in Heathers. I watched the movie after that but have not seen the musical aside from a few small clips. The musical seems a lot more upbeat and fun while still exploring the same the same themes, where as the movie presents itself more seriously and it's up to the viewer to know what is meant to be parody. Or at least that's what it seems like to me, again haven't actually seen the musical although I would like to.

It's a black comedy, so it's a pretty unrealistic movie but it's more clever than many people will realize. I would say your tastes and what you're used to watching will answer the question of if it is worth watching. I was born the year Heathers came out, and I grew up with lots of "weird" stuff. Like, Ren & Stimpy was considered a kid's cartoon when I was a kid and look at that now. 😂So for me, I enjoy Heathers. However, I could totally see some people thinking it is weird or stupid if it goes over their head or it's just not their tastes.

Heathers is pretty great and has a lot of funny and interesting moments. Like others have said, there's some things that don't hold up into the modern day but it's still overall a great movie/musical.
