Help me with my ref sheets! | Check Latest Post!

ah it looks really good, it's a lot cleaner and more simple! i love how you used the trees to represent the seasons, i'm guessing that you took the tiny sprites and enlarged them, which explains why they're pixely? the background isn't too distracting and i love the contrast that "mayor nathan of sunshine" brings to the sheet, the orange looks so nice c: i'd experiment with letting the clothing backgrounds be what they normally are because it might bring more contrast? also was wondering what the stars were, i'm guessing color palettes, but i would maybe try putting "eyes" and "hair" with a white colored font? lol i hope this rambling helps!

Thanks! c:
Yeah, the trees had to be enlarged because they were originally around the size of the stars, but they were pixely to begin with so it didn't really change much except for making them slightly blurry.
Oh, you mean the yellow background from the catalog? I might try that!! I basically just moved all the images from the old sheet which is why I didn't even think to try that. Maybe it'd work for the mayor boxes too??
Also yeah the stars are the palettes but the only reason they're like that is because I totally forgot about them until the very end lol! I didn't want to mess it up by adding extra text or anything. ^^;

Your rambling always seems to help lol c:
I'll make some edits now!

Here's an update! [Click!]

I now have the background from the catalog to use! Haha~

It looks good, but I would play around with the effects and colors a bit more to get something that suits the background. (The mayor ref sheet)

Do you mean the one in the OP or my latest one? I need to update the OP lol

Also fixed the text on Nathan's so it's similar to Amber's: [x]

the latest one

Ah alright! But what do you mean exactly? I could always just change the background lol

I would totally buy one if I wasn't bored of my OC lmao ;v;
if I ever get around to designing a new OC I'd love a ref sheet from you ;D

But your OC was always so cute how could you be bored of her?? ;u;

Updated Alex's ref with a new background. I also fixed the font and rearranged some stuff.

[Click!]

Eventually his sheet will become much more complicated as there's things like wolf ref and tattoo ref that need to be added in if and when I ever get one.
I might even turn his sheet into one similar to my mayor's just because that might be easier.

But... the new one only has 3 fonts?
Name, town, text. That doesn't look good?

I would stick with 2, 3 makes it look a bit cluttered.
Also, you might want to reduce the opacity of the effects.

You could also try using the half-in half-out effect that a lot of ref sheets use.
For the background, I usually use clipart backgrounds since they fit cartoony text better.
The header font for Alex Miller is pretty hard to read.

For the text, adding low-opacity glow to them will make it a lot more appealing.

Reduced the shadow opacity and changed font: [x]

Sadly my program cannot do things like half-in half-out effects because I can't make the canvas "expand", I can only resize it- that and everything on it. Besides that I can't save things as transparent either. Anything without a background gains a white one upon saving, so the end result would be just one big white border.
Do you think adding some kind of white outline to the text would help?

Alex's is nowhere near done yet, it was just a quick update.

again this will be lots of rambling but hopefully it helps!

the little circle borders for the palette are really pixely and aren't completely white, is there any way that can be fixed? i would use a completely solid colored font for "alex miller" or change the brown to something else because again it kinda looks pixely and isn't easy to read. there's some blank space (i love that song) near the top and i would try to make his ajfksdl i don't know what to call it, headshot that you can make in an app? i forget what the app's called lol but i would make it bigger to help fill in the space or as you said, put in the tattoo and wolf ref there! the head looks a bit off-center between "alex miller" and the color palettes as well. also the "not a monster, your best friend." is hard to read, would use a solid font that lets the white shine through better like the font you used for the likes and hates. would also maybe experiment with making inthenameofsweden's art bigger so also there won't be any awkward blank space between the art and age. also the piece looks a bit compressed, did it come like that naturally? again, hope this helped c:

The unable to do half in half out thing is a shame, you can try gimp if you want, but it's not really necessary.

I COULD NOT HANDLE FIXING THIS STUPID SHEET
I tried rearranging like so hard but because the fullbody isn't standing it made everything SO MUCH MORE COMPLICATED
Here's what the sheet looked like before I gave up: [x] lmao a disaster I JUST COULDN'T HANDLE IT ANYMORE

I just made a new one with like half the info on it. [Click!]
Satisfied with it at least, although I wish I could've at least included personality in there somewhere.

Took your advice as always! c:
The circles got messed up because there was some thing that happened when I tried coloring them in so I had to do it manually instead of using the fill tool. Only problem was it changed it from a vector layer to a raster layer (meaning I could no longer change shape/fill in blah blah) and made it blurry.
Omg yeah FaceQ was what I used to make basic references at first xD I've never actually drawn Alex myself since I quit drawing around Season 3 and he was introduced two years later which is why I threw in that headshot lol

Looks better now ^^;

Yay!
Gimp was such a pain for me. I use the magic wand for like everything and it just won't work like the program I use and it drives me insane. I use FireAlpaca when I have to make something transparent, but it still doesn't work with one simple click. -.-

The half info one is really nice ^^;

Aw! Thank you! ;/o/; I guess I'm just bored of her because of how simple she was. xD Also she's supposed to represent me somewhat, but I recently changed my whole look irl (dyed my hair, changed the way I dress, etc) so now she doesn't resemble me at all. D;

Anyway, back on topic. ovo" Your latest ref sheet with half the info on it looks great! There was too much text on the last one imo >v>
Since Alex has his werewolf form and his normal human form, maybe making two different ref sheets for his two different forms would be easier than trying to squeeze all the info into one ref sheet.. :0 ??? Idk, just an idea. QvQ

Awesome! Finally got one looking nice! c:

That's exactly how my main OC is. He was meant to be me up until like maybe 7th grade when I changed my look, then I changed again senior year. I've kept the style the same but now he's more a separate character than a representation of me... although we share the same interests xD

Thank you! Yeah I know I like to include everything for various purposes. People don't get why I include likes/dislikes/ect but it's like, what if they surprise me and draw them doing something they like to do? I would love that ;v; Ofc personality is like a requirement when drawing and I couldn't squeeze it in ;n;
Ehhh I dunno about that. Not sure I'd be able to gather enough art to make two separate sheets. xD I think what I'll do is when the time comes and I get a fullbody of his human form and his wolf form I'll stretch the size down a little and fit both of them on the side. ^-^

I think I've pretty much figured these out.

Updated Nathan's so it resembles Amber's: [x]
That black box seemed so unnecessary it was bugging me.
