Help! Niko not teaching me pillars/counters

I don’t know what I’ve done wrong, he asked me about diy and I talked to him but I never got the message to speak to him next day and he hasn’t gone to the school or given me any diys. I’m now 16 homes in and have unlocked roommates but still no diys. I’m confused!

Have you deposited the requested materials in the box on second floor?

You have to check the box on the top floor in Lottie's office that is right next to the Crafting bench. You have to select "Check Materials" when you open it up and then you have to drop what materials Niko needs.

Oh well then I guess you haven't unlocked that feature yet. You'll probably to keep building more client homes to trigger that feature to work. The only thing I know is that you're suppose to see the feature of how patatatin walls work once you design another villager home. Did you see that?

Have you talked to Wardell recently. He will ask you at a certain point to donate material to Niko’s box.

You’ll know when you can deposit because there’ll be a dialogue from Lottie, I think, about Niko needing materials. Just keep doing houses for now

Okay I’ll keep going see if it fixes itself. I know I’m on my 16th house as I’ve just unlocked roommates.

This happened to me also because I tried to build too many houses on my first day on the new island.
So if you have done your 15 homes and built the school on day one:
Day 2: Leif will visit your island and will give you a course on hybrid flowers for your villagers (this is required)
Day 3: Niko will now give you the class on Pillars and Counters.
