Help understanding collectibles

Forgive me if I post this in the wrong spot, I wasn't sure if I should post it in tbt marketplace if I'm not selling anything. Can someone explain the tbt collectibles for me? I know that our tbt bells buy them, but do they *do* anything or is it more of a status symbol? I am just curious!! I just bought myself a piece of cake today haha. XD I did just buy the silver mailbox with seashells too. Now that I understand! I get lots of messages about trades and stuff so the extra storage is nice to have!

Collectibles are meant to decorate your sidebar, make it look fancy or cool.

Take my apples for example. They don't benefit my account, but it makes my sidebar look cute because it's all apples.

Collectibles are to decorate your sidebar. That's literally it, unless they are ones like your mailbox for example. They can also be used to look important or look like a higher up member by having more/expensive/rare collectibles.

But if you don't have any, they don't hurt you in any way, don't worry about that.

Yeah, they're more of a status symbol than anything else. They're super fun to collect, too! The prices are far too high though.
