help with grass

I need to know how to get more grass to grow.
Someone told me running around town too much killed the grass.
Is this true and if so will the grass grow back since we stopped running
around the town. Any help welcome. :r

In the summer or spring I keep forgetting it will grow back but until then just burn a path through the ground so it looks cool and you have a route to where ever your going.

The snow is halting the grass from growing, as does it for saplings and some flowers.
