hhp question

ive read that you can get lotties photo and other island perma residents *not the villagers* however, to make an hhp island home for them you have to give them the box of chocolates(?); but ive tried doing that and the game wont let me. i must be doing something wrong and i havent seen any of the perma residents on the hhp island sooo...how do you get their island homes for them?

you can’t give npcs a box of chocolates (or anything lol). to make a vacation home for them and obtain their photo, you have to scan their amiibo card using the amiibo scanner at lottie’s desk.
