Here's the official announcement trailer for Hokko Life....pretty much an Animal Crossing clone that will be available soon on Steam.Eurogamer called it"...basically Animal Crossing for PC..".To me it looks like Animal Crossing with villagers that have even larger heads but I have to admit that I kinda like what I see.

I find the animal villagers really uncute with those giant round heads and the graphics aren't too appealing, but it seems like there's a lot of customization options which is cool. I'm not bothered at all at the idea of AC copycats, I'm sure a lot of people will enjoy the game.

it looks cute, but i wouldn’t really consider it competition; it looks like a mix of animal crossing, harvest moon and the sims and i’m sure a couple of ideas were inspired by ac, but it’s not a complete copy of it aha

I am so sad to see so much hate for this game (mostly on facebook). I'm in a discord server with the developer of Hokko Life and he's worked so hard on it. Nicest dude ever. It's adorable to me and while he has stated it's heavily inspired by Animal Crossing, it's got a lot of its own charm. I can't wait for it to come out because I'm definitely buying it. There needs to be more games in this style and we can't keep gatekeeping this genre lol.

Gotta love the way you can just pick up a house and plonk it down where you want. :)

i think its a very interesting looking game & would play it if i could. i dont consider it a clone because then we'd consider all games clones; sure it may have elements similar to animal crossing but many games share similarities like that (though you can obviously tell they took inspiration for animal crossing). its nice to see more games in this niche genre and im excited to watch people play it through twitch or youtube. i dont think i'll read reviews because from what ive seen on the animal crossing subreddit, people think very negatively of it.

Now that I saw a glimpse of the gameplay, Hokko Life doesn't seem like a bad game at all, though I highly doubt it'll be much competition for Animal Crossing?I don't think it'll even reach the same playing field in terms of popularity (but who knows?). There are some aspects it's far superior to than Animal Crossing, like customizations, home plotting and gardening, but I'm unsure about what the rest of the game has in store for players. I imagine that even if it did ultimately end up being better (big 'if', Hokko Life would never be seen as anything other an Animal Crossing clone, and as such, it will garner mostly negative reviews. I can't say it isn't hard not to see Hokko as more than a copy of AC, but for me it's more of an alternative. Why not enjoy both if they're legitimately fun to play?

Definitely a copycat.

But a copycat that's bringing some really interesting features to the table, especially with the fine-control for decoration.

It looks fun! But also lacking that Animal Crossing charm somewhat.

But hopefully it's good and sells well - competition is always good for keeping developers on their toes.

I think it looks pretty cute and there's room for more than one game in the same genre. I think I like the design of the Animal Crossing animals more based on what I've seen so far, but that could change if I saw the Hokko Life animals show a little more personality and expression. I wouldn't be opposed to checking it out.

I think it looks cute. I'm super intrigued by that furniture customization. I'm not sure about the giant animal heads. I almost feel like it would do better as randomly generated player characters.

I'm still going to put it on my wishlist because I might have to try it out.

Just saw it on YouTube a few days ago and wasn't surprised about the amount of dislikes it got to be honest. What bothers me the most is how the characters looking here, a bit too stale and stiff. Wouldn't call it directly a copycat however, more like a game which is highly inspired by Animal Crossing. After all, there are a few features AC doesn't offer (yet?), like the more detailed designing of furniture for example as seen in the trailer. Besides, I don't think it will become a competition for AC at all, AC is just in general too popular and when it comes to quality also much better. Overall, not my cup of tea, therefore not interested in playing it.

Doesn?t look bad but kind of rough around the edges. Like ?building the garden? they had to dig the holes one by one, plant seeds one by one, water one by one... lol gave me war flashbacks of using the non-upgraded tools in Harvest Moon. Glimpses of the animal characters I could see were also not that cute, but if this had come out somewhere in the giant waiting period between New Leaf and New Horizons instead of (presumably) after NH release I might have checked it out.

I'm not liking it too much, but competition is good for consumers of any competitor. I feel like Animal Crossing needs some good competition soon or it's gonna go the way of The Sims with highly priced DLC that should be in the base game.
