I have never played this but it looks like fun(though I wish it were on switch). As far as I can tell there was only an early release of the game and I've read there were a lot of problems with the game. So does anyone know if there will be another, for lack of another word, official release? im assuming if so they will have addressed the issues in the game. i'm kinda wondering since its been so long aince the early release with nothing else said if the game was just dropped or something. thanks for any info

The game hasn’t been dropped, as far as I can tell it’s getting regular updates. I’ve had it on my wishlist for a while, but I’m waiting for it to come out of early access. I just looked at the steam page for it, and it seems to get an update about every month. You can check out the patch notes for the updates here
I was playing it for a while until an inventory bug made me lose all my materials last year however according to discord it has since been fixed. That was the only major problem I ran into. You get most information about bugs and triggers through their discord. I plan on getting back into it soon.
Building only had small infrequent bugs. Building also is a little tricky at first but once you get the hang of it, it isn't so bad.

thats what I was thinking of doing. i assume early access is something like a beta version to work out issues. it seems a lot like ac so i'm definitely interested

Hokko Developer Update: November 2021 + Upcoming Changes
I did log on today and the game runs smoother than it did before and additional area was added to the game that you use the train to reach. It also seems like the Crafting Community is larger too which is really great for the frequent creation events that happen. You can see alot of the stuff people make on their discord and you can swap ID numbers to check out their creations through your game to download.
I haven't tried out the crafting again yet, but I plan too probably this week and perhaps make more speed build videos. I was use to the old way and it was tricky to get a hang of at first but according to the dev update he make some changes to it to make it more friendly.
And yes it is very similar to Animal Crossing but still different.
