Pokémon Hot Take: The Gen 8 Pokémon look like Digimon

Nintendo got my money and I preordered...but I can?t say I am looking forward to any of these goobers.

From the Pokemon I saw so far via the leaks, I wouldn't call any of them Digimon directly. I mean most of them have the typical "Pokemon style" in my opinion. Then again, I didn't saw all leaks, only a bunch that showed up on twitter so...

I personally thought a lot of the Alolan Pokemon looked like Digimon.

Personally, I really like the design choices for the majority and I don't really see Digimon in them, but I also don't think that would be inherently bad. We could use a little more interesting and "edgier" designs imo, since the introduction of the Fairy type the new Pok?mon tend to be more on the feminine side for the most part. I'd welcome Pok?mon that look like Garurumon or whatever, I think that would be cool. Better than the 5th cute Pok?mon that looks like a dessert.

The humanoid starters are weird though, like why are two of the three evolve to humanoid creatures?

Edit: On second look there are definitely a weird amount of new humanoid Pok?mon in there... I don't really mind it because I do love Digimon too, but I can see why someone would think there's a slow turn into Digimon. Especially with all the new changes that go against what the Pok?mon games used to be. I can understand wanting pocket monsters to be more pet-like opposed to digital monsters, but Pok?mon really never kept to the "pocket-size" description in the first place. Idk. I'm just not into humanoid Pok?mon as well, but other Digimon have cool design ideas.

I think they’re trying to say that the new Pok?mon look terrible. What I don’t get is why do they keep comparing it to Digimon? Digimon is anything but a Pok?mon rip-off. Game Freak also doesn’t rip off of Digimon.

I say it just because when I see some of them, they remind me of Digimon. I like Digimon so in no way do I mean it as an insult haha. But I'm assuming other people are not like me and in fact do throw it as an insult or something.

Maybe because that's sort of when minimal designs such as "it's just a rat but purple" stopped being as common, which gen 1 and 2 was full of.
