• Guest, you're invited to help build our new TBT time capsule! It contains three parts, with some of its elements planned to open in 2029 and others not until the distant future of 2034. Get started in 2024 Community Time Capsule: Blueprints.

How do you feel about magic/scifi elements in AC Switch?

Would you like magical/scifi elements?

For example, having a teleporter PWP (for big towns), or witchy portals, and pretty magical decorations. I'm picturing elements from Fantasy Life, which is one of my favourite games, and also a very adorable and beautifully designed game. I know some people prefer having AC be "realistic" but it already has witchy furniture items and you live in a town with talking animals.. it is kind of already a fantasy. Plus, you could just choose not to build the magic/scifi PWPs or use the furniture items, so it wouldn't be forced on you and you can still have a realistic town. I would kind of like magical elements. I think it would add such wonder to my town and be something new and exciting for the series.

What are your thoughts?

Yesss, a fairy forest and a witch lair would be amazing :) People do love having witchy towns, and fairy themes so they might as well implement some related PWPs

Personally I like having my town be more realistic, but as long as it isn't forced on me I support these kinds of elements for the people who want them.

I am all about this kinda stuff haha. Animal Crossing sort of dabbled with it with the fountain spirits but they sort of got rid of them? :( Besides that though, I think it could be done well if it was discrete and totally optional, meaning it is not the focus of the game.

I know people have a related complaint often when fantasy Sims extensions are introduced, because they are very different from the core game play. The extension of course is entirely focused on the element, causing the complaint that it is to fantasy-like. Not saying The Sims is that similar to Animal Crossing, just using it as an example as it is a common interest on here as well.

Here’s a thought:

Diana’s Fay Cookie exists. So I’d say yes.

Animal Crossing isn't exactly a realistic game, so I'm fine with some ~spooky~ features

I think more options is always good! I'd love to see what people could do with magical elements for towns ^^

I mean, if they would give you the option to turn your town into a more fantasy like town which isn't
forced to be that much realistic, then why not? Doesn't Pocket Camp already has tons of items that
turns your camp into something like this? I would find it cool, especially if you're that kind of player
who has more then one town, like you could have one town which is "typical realistic" (a.k.a. as
AC always was) and one which is more a fantasy place. Sounds nice actually.

I would be up for either of these. More options always makes things more interesting. I'd like to see what people would do with them. And like you said, nobody would have to use them, but they would go really well with some of the furniture and clothing in the game now that doesn't match anything else.

I want more of both! I want to actually be visited by aliens this time, not just Gulliver masquerading as one. I want that secret 3:33am TV message from the alien to mean something.

Neat idea! I would love the fantasy part as I kinda like those sort of things. (Hint, hint, magic, fairies, and dragons.) The other idea is pretty cool too. Also, having the option for these is really nice. I'm still trying to decide if I want a theme for my new town or not. To be honest, the only theme I could think of doing is fantasy. :p

Anyone remember this animal crossing like game? The name is Enchanted Folk and the School of Wizardry. It is like a crossover between harry potter and animal crossing. It was fun to play and there was also alot of magic and stuff you even could date the animal villagers but I prefer animal crossing without it. For me the game is perfect as it is. No need for fantasy and other stuff. If Ihave the need for magic and fantasy I play another game. Of course I wouldn't bother if there are some pwps that have a fantasylike look - after all it's optional.

One the other hand I don't really like sci-fi so that's a clear no go for me.

Adding extreme fantasy or sci-fi elements would entirely depend on how they were implemented. I'm not against it, per se, but I think I'd rather see a spin-off focusing on them than straight-up adding them to Animal Crossing as a whole. Creatures are one thing, but too much of anything else may or may not be good. It would depend entirely on what was added and how. Again, though, I could get behind a spin-off focusing on them, but the spin-off would have to be designated as such.
