how do you feel about yourself?

I have sort of fluctuating self-esteem. I kinda go back and forth between thinking I'm a great person and being okay with myself, to thinking I'm just awful. The thing that helps me out the most is that, if I'm mad at myself or think I'm not so great, to try to imagine what it would be like if the negative thoughts I think about myself were actually something a friend was saying about themselves, how would I react? Like if I feel bad that I missed a deadline, for example, it can be so easy to start being mean to myself, but if I imagine that my Mom missed some kind of a deadline, and I think about what I would say to her, it's so much harder to be mean. So yeah, talk to yourself as if you were one of your closest friends.

Compared to the past, I like myself a lot more now. In the past I had to deal with depression and severe social anxiety, which caused very low self esteem. Through the years it got better as I got treatment and I've built up some confidence in myself. Altough even now, I sometimes struggle with myself, I've learnt to accept myself as I am.
The things that helped me much developing some self-esteem were:
● Spend time alone in nature, also taking walks and enjoying the wind and the sunlight
● Doing anything creative. I take painting classes once a month and do a lot of creative projects to show myself what I am alble to create. From drawing, writing and sewing to working with clay or knitting, you can test pretty much everything! You could also begin baking cakes or anything like that!
● Having a diary where I wrote down my emotions was very helpful because I learnt to understand myself better
● I also made the experience that helping people made me happier and more self-confident.
● Sport was very helpful. There are a lot different kinds you can try, I went with yoga and dancing. If you don't like your body, this is a good way to begin to like yourself.
● Regular meditation, even if just 5 minutes per day.
● Try to learn a new skill to show yourself you can learn many things! It also distracts from negative thoughts when you're concentrating on something else. I began to improve my English and tried to learn japanese and sign language, but you don't have to learn an entire new language.
● try to get much contact with friends/ friendly people. On TBT for example, there are many nice people to chat or spend some time with! When I wasn't feeling so good about myself, often meeting my best friend helped me a lot because I realized there are some people who appreciate you very much.
Regardless of the way that you choose to take, it takes some effort to get to your goal but the result is priceless.
Don't give up and someday you'll make it! I believe in you!

I'm fairly confident :) I have a lot of people in my life and don't particularly doubt myself much. Safe to say I'm happy :)

Self-confidence is one hell of a roller-coaster ride for me. One day it could be decent, the next I could be breaking down and wanting to hide. It was even worse growing up, with a lot of touchy subjects and events I'd rather not get too much into. Over time I've been getting a lot better, but I still have a long way to go. While I've learned to accept things about myself that can barely change, I'm still in a long process of working on things that can improve.

As long as I'm on the right track, I'm overall happy. I'm tired of hiding.

I feel good about myself for the most part. I like my personality and I’m pretty satisfied with the life I’m living. I like my appearance, minus the crazy stretch marks I have from pregnancy with a nearly 10 pound child (I’m so white and they’re so purple), and the still healing C-section incision I have that makes me look like my lower stomach has a butt crack lol

If you can change things you don’t like about yourself, try that, like getting in shape for example or working on anger issues. If you can’t reasonably change things you don’t like about yourself, focus on things you do like about yourself when you feel down, and do your best to bring some kind of joy into your day. Don’t just sit there and sulk, go do something that makes you happy, even if it’s just making yourself a nice cup of coffee, or going for a walk when the weather’s nice.

i have pretty mixed feelings on myself.
i have moments where i look in the mirror and tell myself i'm beautiful, i have moments where i look in the mirror and tell myself i'm ugly. it all depends on how things are going in life for me.
sometimes i contemplate whether life is worth living, and what my life is worth, too. i feel like i can't make a difference in the world most of the time. it makes me feel very worthless knowing that i, most likely, will live the rest of my life without changing something in the world. my life has no impact.
but, really, what matters, if you can't change the world, if you can't influence a big group of people, influence the people around you who need it. make others happy, make yourself happy, make the world, a little bit better by doing something nice for your friend. show people you care, show people how to love, love unconditionally. give people what you don't have. and when someone is falling, pick them up. when you are falling, pick yourself up.
there are a lot of cruel things in this world that you can't change. but you can make things better.
for yourself and for others.
other than that, my personality i am sometimes confused on. i'm a happy person, but i can also be a sad one, i can be mean, i can be nice, i'm changing all the time. i feel as if i'm never "the same", i'm always different.
i'm always confused on my emotions too, especially in the past few months. i have been happy, sad, okay, fine, and, rather empty all at once. everything at once. it makes no sense.

sometimes, i don't know who i am.
i am brave, i am a coward.
i am strong, i am weak.
i am loving, i am lotheing.

i am a human.
and so are you.

I feel like currently i'm a work in progress, there's still a lot of stuff I want to work on within myself especially when it comes to managing my emotions, but atleast i'm actually taking the steps towards doing so. I'm proud of everything i've managed to achieve so far though, and I think i'm on the right path. I'm glad that i'm determined and passionate at the moment, and i'm actually sticking to my goals. However, I wish I would reach out to people a little more, as i've been isolating myself a lot. As well as step outside of my comfort zone every once in a while.

I have my ups and downs, but I just soldier on because I have to.

To be honest I pretty consistently hate myself. I don't want to go into the details very much right now, but I will say that online communities like TBT have been a good help in preventing me from completely losing it. So thanks for that, everyone.
