How do you put clothes on villagers for HHN?

So this has plagued me since I started playing, I've seen so many neat houses with lots of villagers, which I know is done with amiibo cards to invite them over, but in some of the themed houses I know that people have dressed up the villagers on HHN but I can't seem to figure it out, when I pick them up while designing the house it just says their name and doesn't offer the dress button like when I just go to visit... so I don't know how people do this and would really like to learn how so I can dress my villagers accordingly to the themes.

You can't dress them up while designing their house, you have to visit them afterwards.
Then you can just click and drag them into the clothes icon

Yep! Just pick up the villager with your stylus and the clothing icon should show up on the left side of the bottom screen

I knew that part, but then does it stay on for the Happy Homes Network when you upload them? Cause I went to Harry Potter Themed house on the HHN and they were all in the robes and stuff...

I've definitely been to houses on HNN where they dressed their characters in costumes/outfits to match the theme, I know you can put clothes around the house and stuff, but I want them to wear the clothes I want on HNN. I also really wish there were dummies in this game to dress up and stand in place in the houses... especially the ones that are stores and stuff.

I'm in the same place as you friend. I know there are things I don't know how to do and I NEED TO KNOW HOW. Because I am jealous of everyone else's houses, and I want to put darn hats on all the villagers!

I'm going to try when I get home and see if I can, cause I have to test out the house perimeters as well.

Yep! Tried it today with one of my villagers, I went to visit and then asked to re-do the house and she was still wearing the outfit the whole time, I wasn't done with the house cause I still need to expand but I am sure she will be wearing the clothes when I upload it since she wore it through a few expansions to her house!

I sadly don't have Isabelle yet, I hope I get her in my next cards once I get paid. XD But I've seen the pictures and she looks adorable.
