I always think it's interesting to learn people's habits about cooking or getting food out. It varies a lot between my friends - some eat at a restaurant daily, while others eat out once a week only.

Personally, I'm making it a goal to eat at home more. My husband and I are both good cooks, so it usually comes down to how tired we are. We currently eat out about twice a week. I'd like to get it down to once a week or less. I'd even be happy with getting food from a restaurant once a month. But, we live in a rural area with not a ton of options, so we often eat at the same places on rotation.

How often do you get takeout/go to a restaurant as opposed to eating at home?

In general, I'm practically always eating at home. I rather make my own meals with my own ingredients so I know how they have been prepared and cooked.

I'll occasionally order something if I really don't feel like making anything that day or if I just feel like it for whatever reason. Usually only do that on the weekends. Not a weekly occurrence.

I'm basically never sitting and eating inside a restaurant. That's more of a special occasion thing, like if I'm hanging out with a long-distance friend or some family member or friend is celebrating something.

We eat out once a month/2months. Before 2020, it was about once a week.
It varies a little because we try to save it for when we are with other people as a social thing. So, sometimes multiple months in a row we don't, other times it may be 3 times in one month.
For the most part, we just aim for eating at home. Im home so I can take the time to make meals. And they are ok. I'm not a chef or anything so sometimes it is nice going somewhere.

Right now I eat at home pretty much exclusively, but throughout March and earlier this month my parents were here and we did go out to eat quite a few times. However, now that I'm alone again it's back to eating only stuff I can prepare at home, at least until I have more money.

depends on where I am........
when i used to have 60-hr duty weeks in the city I'd rarely have time to cook for myself so I end up taking out regularly. my boyfriend lived with me more often than not back then though so when he'd come home earlier from work he'd cook for the two of us ;v; but my lunch (and sometimes dinner) is free if i eat at the hospital where I go on duty so i don't take out 24/7.
but whenever i go home to my family home i almost never take out, there's always food at home and our house relatively far from the city so taking out/having food delivered is a big hassle. homemade food is the best!

When eating at home I'll never go over my allotted calories unless someone gets me food that won't store. When I'm out, I'll usually just "taste" things instead of getting full on them, like having one of each of things I like, or minimize the portion.

I’d say I eat out once or twice a month maximum. Most times I don’t eat out at all for many months. It’s just too expensive for me most of the time. And I try to cook more at home and prepare healthier meals

My family and I eat out maybe... five times a year? It's just not something we do, and while, yeah, we enjoy it when we do, we all much prefer cooking stuff and eating at home. We did get takeout recently, but that was because our oven rudely decided to stop working, followed by the electricity going out in our area.

i never eat in at restaurants any more and haven’t since covid hit. i wasn’t particularly a fan of eating at a restaurant to be honest so it isn’t something I really miss. If I do order something (which is pretty rare, maybe a couple times a month/2 months) I’ll always take it to go and eat it at home

Maybe a couple times a month on average? Usually because of a craving for certain foods I can only find at a restaurant. I order delivery pretty often though

My roommate and I eat out more often than we really should. At the very least, we tend to eat out on the weekends., but sometimes we get lazy and wind up eating out on weekdays as well. I do try to cook at home during the week, though. Way cheaper, and also easier to get reasonable portions by simply making a reasonable amount of food.

i eat out about once every two months when i'm living by myself. i hate being outside, it's very draining for me. as much i hate cooking, i cook the vast majority of my meals to save money and for environmental/cleanliness/food safety/health reasons. i don't do delivery and occasionally i'll get take out and bring it home to eat. some places used to let you bring your own containers for take out but everyone stopped after covid which is understandable.

I almost never eat our or order food. It's cheaper and healthier to eat at home

Unless I'm travelling, then 90% of my meals are eating out (sometimes I will make my own breakfast though)

I rarely eat out, even before the pandemic. I think the amount of people who eat in opposed to out jumped up during that time since they saw the money they were saving. It can be a pain to prepare meals, but it depends on what kind it is. Sometimes I really enjoy it if it's a new recipe I've been dying to try.

Most times my experiences at restaurant have been pretty good. There's only been a handful that were bad like the busboy busing all the food and drinks on me from the 2nd floor, some place forgetting my order and I had been there for like 40 minutes, some person changed their kid's diaper near the table where I was eating.

I work at a restaurant and since my shifts are nine hours long, I eat there. I’m not sure I’d consider that eating out since it’s a free meal at work. I’ll go to Taco Bell sometimes on my days off. They have pretty affordable food and I love their soft tacos, lmao.

We usually eat at home, and maybe go out/order food once a week/two weeks if me and my mom are both too tired to cook.
