How goes the new bug and fish hunt for this month?

i have such a struggle with pier fish! i've gone through so much fish bait, and have yet to catch the big rare fish LOL! must be something with my island, i wasn't able to catch a blue marlin either! did manage to snag one tuna tho :')

so far I've catched the nibble fish, rainbow fish, and the pondskater. I'm going to take the time today to fish and I really need to make a pond. I had to destroy my heart one

Got a pondskater, beaded dragonfly, frog and betta so far! I usually have bad luck with rare fish spawns, so back to the bait crafting grind I go.

EDIT: Got a birdwing butterfly!

It’s going slow. Seems like the spawn rate for “rare” fishes even in the rain has slowed.

New bugs and fish! Finally!

I caught the following in order:

Catfish
Frog (didn't make a croaking sound )
Angelfish

I woke up early to look after the Great Purple Emperor Butterfly but it eluded me unfortunately. It only spawns between 4am-8am.

No Mahi Mahi either. 30 bait and no luck.

Now for the bugs and fish that come out during the day.

Frog and Mahi Mahi spawn all day. Frogs are in ponds and Mahi Mahi are only found next to the pier.

it only spawns between 4 and 8 am?? i TTed to open up plots and i thought i had seen a few (i kept the time around 12-1 pm), maybe i only saw it that one time i had to hold a plot open over night... anyway, this one's probably gonna be the toughest for me to find since i always stay up way too late and have only recently found the ability to wake up at 9 am lol

I am always better in the evening category, since I play more during those hours. I already caught a frog, catfish, the mahi mahi (not a looker btw), scorpion and an angel fish. Not bad for day one. Oh and the new dragon fly.

New things I noticed about the new spawns:

-The frog no longer makes a croaking sound, you still fish it up like normal. And apologize to it

-The purple butterfly's flight pattern is unique, it flutters for a bit then kind of soars like a bird.

-Pondskaters, despite the name, can also spawn in rivers 3 spaces and wider.

-Scorpions are a little faster than tarantulas, as they do not do a little 'hop' then start chasing you, they go straight for you. At least mine did

I had Flick on my island today so I spend a big part of my day catching bugs and fish. So far I got all the bugs except the scorpion, for the fish I only got the frog and the angelfish.

i've found two sources saying that the great purple emperor spawns from 4 am to 7pm... (polygon and gamewith)

It spawns during 4am-7pm, so you probably did see them.

I always catch all rare fishes first and I got the Giant Trevally and the Mahi-Mahi after hours and hours of fishing... ;-;

It's amazing how cruel RNG can be. I just walked up to my pier and the first fish I found was a Mahi-Mahi. But it's raining on my island so the rare fish may appear more frequently.

I still need the rainbow fish, the betta and the Mahi Mahi.
I don't think I even saw the queen Alexandria birdwing butterfly anywhere today.
Do they spawn in particular places?
I saw several banded dragonflies but couldn't for the life of me catch one... they're too bloody fast!

Ten minute in I caught a catfish, frog, violet beetle and a scorpion. The scorpion appeared near red pansies and moved around and hid. I thought it was gone but I swung the net and caught it.
This afternoon I caught more fish/bugs.
Left to catch are Rosalia Beetle, birdwing, giant trevally and Mahimahi.

Southern hemisphere here. The only new bugs for me are damselfly, mole cricket and tarantule. I managed to catch the first 2.
For fish, I only managed to catch a bitterling. The others I still need are: blowfish, blue marlin, foorball fish and tuna
