How hard did the Raymond/Sasha market crashed after the amiibo series 5 came out?

I remember when Raymond was being sold (as a villager) for several tens of millions in-game bells.

Now that the Series 5 has come out, and the Raymond amiibo card is very common, how hard did the market crash for the new (once amiibo-less) characters ?

nookazon is outrageous despite the amiibo cards but that's nookazon for you. i personally wouldn't buy either of them, i have sasha currently from island hopping but when i get rid of him i don't think i'll sell him for a lot because i'm rich as is and don't want to scalp people lol. it's so easy to make your own amiibo cards too so i think if someone really wants them they could get amiibos really easily without having to buy legitimate cards (which people have high prices for too). i'm not condoning it but i'm just saying it's not difficult to get ahold of a raymond or sasha amiibo that's functional

I think series 5 amiibos are still sitting in my local Targets as a well as some series 1 and 4. I think Sasha was easy to get when he first got released into the game. As far as Raymond goes, I think the demand for got much less even before his amiibo. The demand for him was pretty insane when the game was new.

Man if you can believe how much Raymond used to cost this screenshot proves how Nookazon is so greedy. This picture was the one I took way back in 2020 when the game first came out:

10,000,000 NMT is outrageous. That's 20,000,000,000 Nook Miles and 25,000 trips.

If each trip took 2 minutes to load, and 1 minute drop, that's: 75,000 minutes (52 days)
That does not include the time to earn and print.

Yeah I mean that is just outrageous. People were not thinking through this at the time.

As a matter of curiosity, is it even possible to carry 10,000,000 Nook Miles Tickets in the first place? Suppose you maximized your storage and emptied all your pockets, then did the same with multiple player characters on a single island, and then littered your island (which has had all rivers, lakes, and waterfalls paved over to maximize space) and houses with all that couldn't fit into storage and pockets. I think that would probably still come up short of 10,000,000.

I ask because I don't think anyone who posts such an absurdly high quantity is actually expecting someone to fulfill their end of the bargain, so much as using the listing as a proverbial trophy case. Or, they could be expecting you to hack the game to get the requisite items, but if they're willing to go that far, then certainly they can just hack the game themselves and get whatever villager they want and have infinite bells and Nook Miles Tickets to boot.

And you wonder why Nookazon needs to have a price balance because I don't know who allowed them post this absurd number. It should be cap at 400 because thats the maximum amount of Nook Mile Tickets you can hold in your Pockets (40 slots) and the Bells should be cap at 4,000,000 because again thats how much a person can carry with 40 slots in their pockets.

I didn't even think Sasha had a market with a quick turnaround on the cards, but I could understand when he first came out and such. I also imagined that the price of Raymond went really downhill since his availability blew up with the Amiibo.

I wanted Sasha but I was not really to pay a big price, so I took a chance with 1 pack that I found and Sasha was in it. Awesome luck I had.

I just had a look at how much Raymond goes for on Nookazon these days, and it's saying his average price is 10 million bells/400 NMT which is still a ridiculous amount for a villager.

I don't think he's in as much demand as he used to be, but I still think people could lower their prices for him on Nookazon lmao.

I kinda stopped using Nookazon so much around the time of the 2.0 update drop, so I don't really know what Sasha's demand was like when he first came to the game. All I know is that everyone really wanted him. I looked and he doesn't even have an average price. But I'm guessing people would have been asking for stupid amounts for him and still are. I feel like he's one of the most popular villagers still at the moment.

Idk I think people get too greedy. It's just an animal made of pixels people, please.

When I think about this topic, I sometimes think of the New Leaf days back when Marshal was hyped and in-demand and his amiibo card sold for a high price on sites like eBay (Nookazon didn't exist back then, you have to rely on main social media sites to adopt a villager.)

I don't think it would crash immediately anytime sooner, It's just that there might be some people who will sell Raymond and Sasha amiibo cards on eBay and other selling sites for a high price. The "amiibo-less villager" market may crash, but it would move on to selling the actual card themselves.

Marshal has gained alot of hype back then in New Leaf as a "must-have villager" but not as massive as Raymond's hype.

Just my thoughts on that matter.

I got Sasha and Shino amiibo card. I lowkey wanted Ione but I'm happy.

don’t forget the time it would take to even acquire that many nmts, whether it be through printing each out individually or buying/trading for them. if acquired through the first method, it would take eons to earn that many nook miles as well.

reading this genuinely made my eyes widen. like, it’s not even the fact that asking for 10 million nmts is insane to me, it’s the fact that it doesn’t even seem plausible. nobody had that many nmts or the nook miles needed to buy them back then — hell, i don’t think anyone has them now, two years later. that, plus the amount of time it would take to acquire everything and drop everything off, makes it impossible. nobody has the time, patience or capacity for that.

the person who posted that really just didn’t realize that acquiring and trading 10 million bells is a lot easier and different than acquiring and trading 10 million nmts is. 😬

It's really funny to watch the 'market'. I remember when the game came out, even buying in game bells was a struggle. No one wanted TBT here. Now you can buy literally anything in game for dirt cheap since the demand is very low. Thank god lol.

I just find it hard to believe nobody wanted TBT at one point. Now you can get anything for TBT, it seems. Nookazon’s always been insane but it’s convenient and faster, typically, whenever you’re looking for something. I’ve never traded on this site in particular, but people may think it’s faster than creating an account on a forum and waiting for a reply.

Unlike series 1-4, series 5 villager cards are pretty common. So if anyone wants Raymond or Sasha theres a high chance of finding their cards for just a few dollars which helped crash their "value". Marshal still has a 1 in 84 chance find vs the 1 in 24 for Raymond or Sasha. Either way, Im glad the amiibo cards got the Raymond hype gone and the Sasha hype grounded before it started.

You do have a good point, and I’m glad series 5 has fewer card types in comparison to series 1-4. I’ve tried with series 4 packs just to get Lolly but obtaining Lolly amiibo card is indeed rarer in comparison to getting Raymond and Sasha at series 5 pack.

Well I went over at Nookazon. What people are asking for an ungifted Raymond seems to be all over the place.

Several users offer him for free
Some ask for 10 000 000 bells
Some ask for 4 000 000 bells or 30 NMT

Nookazon says on average he is sold for 4 000 000 bells or 178 NMT. That must be outdated because I see several offer for free

I remember when Shino first came out I saw on Nookazon people wanted 16 Million bells for her.
And Shino had an amiibo card from the start she was released unlike Raymond. Nookazon doesn't make much sense at all to me.
