Just curious about how long everyones switch's battery life lasts for.
I can get about 4 maybe 5 hours of battery life on my switch when it it using the internet.
Only about 4 hours. It's very rare I take it out of the dock nowadays though, unless I'm watching something and waiting for a trade to go through. I think I used to get closer to around 6 hours when I used to play stardew valley out of the dock, so I'm guessing that new horizons just takes up alot more battery than other games.
Usually around 2 hours but it varies depending on what game I play. Some games like Dragon Quest Builders 2 only plays for like an hour and a half while most indies can get 3, maybe 4 hours out of the battery.
I've never paid any attention (plus I never play it for more than like 30 min in one sitting) but I would say it usually lasts about 5-6 hours. I agree that playing NH seems to be a bit of an issue, bringing it down to 4-5 hours, but it's never an issue for me since I almost always have the charger nearby to plug it in in case it starts to go dead.
I mean depends which game I play (the more intensive games take more power) but I put the screen brightness down quite a bit and it makes a decent difference, I have never seen anyone get like 8-10 hours, maybe if you play like tetris with lowest brightness you could reach that but I find it lasts anywhere from 4-6 hours.
whoa, looking at all these is wild. i wonder when everyone bought their switches and how that plays (haha!) into it. i get a ton of game play time and just leave mine on at will lol. spoiled me, with an 8 hr battery. i bought the new horizons switch, that's why i'm wondering.
I haven't really paid attention since I mostly play on my Switch docked. If I were to guess, it would last around three to four hours. But that duration isn't always consistent because brightness and the game you're currently playing can impact the battery life before charging.
I have the OG Switch that came out in 2017, so mine roughly lasts 2-3 hours depending on what I play (I'm seeing people sad over their 4-5 hour battery life playing ACNH, but trust me, they're very fortunate).
Luckily I do have an Anker power bank, so I can definitely get an additional 5 hours of battery if I needed, for a road trip or plane ride.
Actually, 4-5 hours is pretty spectacular! You need to take into account Nintendo's budget; they could've easily put in an even bigger battery, but that would have spiked up the cost, and would've crippled so many wallets
Not to mention, there's nothing like the Switch on the market that can play a fully-fledged Animal Crossing game, Skyrim, or Breath of the Wild in the palm of your hand in that kind of form-factor. Keep in mind; it's practically a tablet! Your average smartphone might last double that, but it doesn't have any games that are even remotely up to the standard of those that are on Switch (Fortnite is the one exception), mostly because there just isn't a market for it.
My original Switch was lucky to get 2 hours of play before it died. I ended up giving that one to my partner since she usually plays on the TV, but she's started playing undocked a lot and it's the same story, she barely gets 2 hours of Animal Crossing before it craps itself.
I got one of the updated Switch's for myself. Lasts about 4-5 hours at best but even then, that's recently been mostly not very demanding indie games like Hollow Knight and Shantae.
It baffles me how they thought the OG Switch's battery life was okay for a portable system.
My boyfriend's switch probably lasts about four hours. I just bought the new ACNH switch and it seems to about six hours or so, depending if I'm going to other peoples' islands or not. It also helps to turn the volume off and the brightness down all the way, gets me an extra hour or two some days!
