This might seem like a weird question. I consider myself a minimalist. All of my belongings fit into my 46L backpack which I use to travel. I don’t own a lot of stuff, honestly. I do have items of sentimental value though.
All of my clothing items are the same type and they fit into the same color palette. I own a shirt for each day of the week and about five pairs of the same track pants. My thought was “You can wear your favorite thing everyday if you only own your favorite things.” It’s a weight lifted off my shoulders not struggling with what to wear each day. I just do laundry more often than most people.
I’m wondering how much stuff you own in general? If you do have lots of stuff, are you trying to downsize?
Ahaha too much. My closet is cramped and not everythin I own has a place to go. I do want to get rid of stuff, like clothing I don't wear, items I don't use ect... and also get a storage shed. In my defense thou, not everything in my closet is mine, some is just old stuff that is being stored in my closet, for lack of storage space anywhere else in the house.
I have way too much stuff. I have a hard time throwing anything away because either I or someone else spent money on it. I collect a lot of things, so I've built up quite a stockpile over the years. Then, on top of that, I get random gifts from family members or even little trinkets from work. I don't know what to do with all of them so they just get stored somewhere because I can't throw them out. At some point, I know I need to declutter, but I don't have the energy to go through it all.
I own a lot I can't count it all but I'll try to get at least one percent of it. I have a nintendo switch, two ps4's one ps5 a wii u a 3ds a game boy, a bike a scooter and a skateboard, like 100 video game disc, and a bunch of gift cards
I'm a "wannabe minimalist" on one side, I really like to have clean rooms in the house with little to nothing in them and dislike buying useless things... On the other side I can't seem to stop buying useless things
I'm that kind of person that you take with you to IKEA to buy 1 lamp and ends up at the cashier with 2 full shopping carts I do sell a lot of my things on Ebay every now and then..
I have a lot of stuff; I always have trouble getting rid of stuff and it has gotten worse since I’ve been having a lot of regrets about things like my dad selling some of my stuff like old power ranger toys without asking me at a garage sale and some other stuff. When the painters were here and they were taking a look around and saw how much stuff i had in my room, my mom felt the need to tell them that I have or possibly have asperger’s (I still don’t get why she told them or how that has anything to do with it). I like collecting things too.
i honestly own,, quite a lot of stuff, most of it being clothes and random objects . i’m not currently trying to downsize but i’d certainly like to get rid of anything that i don’t want or need anymore whenever i’m feeling up to the task.
Omg I own way too much stuff. Recently the need has arisen to move to a smaller place that’s easier to take care of so I’ve been trying to pair down my stuff before I look for a new home. It seems like no matter how many bags of clothes I donate, furniture we give away, etc, there’s 1000 more things that need dealing with. I have a hard time parting with things and it has been super hard on me. But it needs to be done!
But I also am a collector of things. I have a lot of funko pops, plushes, but my most enormous collection is enamel pins- just 1000s built up over a decade. They’re everywhere and it’s out of control. I have to stop getting interested in new things lol.
I could never ever be a minimalist- I just don’t understand it. Definitely a different lifestyle than mine. I’ll be a “too much stuff” person forever!!
A couple of years ago I moved to a new country and I sold all of my furniture, home stuff, electronics but that’s all. I had all of my clothing and collections shipped over.
I collect a lot of things and so does my spouse. Video games, kpop albums, Pusheens, perfumes, books, tarot cards etc. And I couldn't bear to only have a few items of clothing to choose from.
Not that much currently! I spent two years keeping my purchases to an absolute minimal and throwing out things due to depression + my bedroom having no floor or furniture But ever since my room finished getting completely redecorated in April, I've been buying nice things again! I've been trying to add to my closet by buying new stuff and throwing out all my old, worn out clothing, as well as adding to my shoe collection (currently have 3 pairs, 2 were bought within the last month,,)
My bookshelf and jewellery box are both mostly empty still though, as is my clothing rail and chest of drawers I'm at a rare stage where I need to buy more stuff! I prefer to accumulate things slowly rather than going out and buying tons of things though.
I’m not a minimalist and never will be. However, over the past few months I have been removing stuff from room whenever I have the chance. I’ve been using the book, Spark Joy by Marie Kondo as a guide.
So far I’ve gone through the clothing items section. However, I feel that I didn’t remove enough and may have to do this part again. I only filled up one trash bag.
The paperwork section is mostly done. I just need to find the remaining junk mail that I have in my room and figure out how I’m going to get rid of my old college textbooks. The library isn’t an option because they don’t accept book donations.
After that, I have to go through the komono section (miscellaneous stuff). I have 3 storage boxes with random stuff that I need to go through.
Too much......I have a lot of stuffed animals and random small toys/trinkets, mostly from childhood. I'm trying to downsize bit by bit but it's difficult because of emotional attachments
i definitely own a lot of stuff, though i've been trying to cut back on the amount of things i have in some aspects my family moved a few years ago and while i was going through my things to see what i wanted to keep and what i wanted to leave (or donate or sell) i was like....... floored? by the amount of stuff i had that i didn't remember owning, from old games i'd hadn't played since i was a kid to clothes that were years upon years old (plenty still w/ tags on them! yikes)..... so basically i used to have a Lot of stuff and i still have a decent amount (i'll never be a minimalist or anything close), but it's definitely less than i used to have lol. i like having things and lots of different kinds of things ig
Currently, not very much. But that's OK. I haven't ever really been much of a materialistic person, and I ain't going to be taking squat with me when I die.
I'm definitely a collector, and I've gone through quite a few phases, but I've settled down over the past few years. I love collecting Funko Pops, but luckily they've been making a ton that I don't really like. I also try to buy stuff only when I have a coupon, so that helps me cut back a little bit, too. I'll have my own space soon, so it's really making me think everything over. In a good way!
I also looooove Uniqlo t-shirts. I can probably make an entire drawer of them. They're just so good!
I still own a decent amount of stuff but I've done a purge, keeping only what I need and like. I'm more mindful of what I purchase compared to before and hesitate, thinking of if I really do need it, is it worth the money, etc. I'm pretty happy with the amount of stuff I own now. I see no reason to do another round of decluttering but rather, continue to be mindful and avoid buying stupid things.
