In this tutorial, I will give you the BASIC idea of how to create brick tile pattern.
For this tutorial, you will select a blank custom design, you will need to pick one color and 4 different variations of it. Lightest, light, medium, and dark. For this example I will use a Red color variation.
Step 1 - Setting Up The Blocks
Use your Medium color and fill in the canvas. From the top of the grid, move down eight spaces, and mark it across in white. Continue to do this every eight spaces until you have four long tiles. (See Photo)
In the first and third tiles, move to the middle of each and in white split them in half. (See Photo)
In the second and fourth tiles, move nine spaces from each side and mark them off. (See Photo)
Step 2 - Edging
You are going to remove the corner tips, of the red shapes, to give them a rounded look..
Step 3 - Adding Depth/Value
Pick your darkest color and coloring the the bottom line, of each brick; for the smaller pieces you can coloring in the sides of them depending on how you want the light to bounce off. (See photos)
Now pick your lightest color and color in the top line of each brick. (See photos)
Step 4 - Being Creative
Pick your light color and make some type of patterns that are appealing to you.
Step 5 - Cleaning Up & Clearing
In the color bar, select the white square with a line through it. Now fill in all the white spaces surrounding the bricks and save.
