Since I recently had my island destroyed by another player, I decided to post this. I was told it was impossible to fix a destroyed island, but it is possible, and not at all difficult.

All you do is go on a tour. You'll probably find coconut or bananas on the palm trees, just shake them and take some fruit. These will be in your pockets once you're finished with the game. Go to the fishing/bug catching area and plant the trees with the shovel. I recommend planting three or four palm trees, it's much easier to catch bugs by doing this, because there are so few trees. Leave the island and time travel/wait for about four days, and the trees will be all planted. Your island should now be fine.

I hope this helped.

You can also collect other island fruit (lemons, mangos, etc.) and flowers while playing the games so you can replant the grassy section of the island if you have lost that too.

This makes me feel a lot better about getting rid of all my flowers last night so that I wouldn't have to worry about spawning those dosh garn emperor butterflies.

Out of curiosity, this is a question i've be having...How do you get things TO the island to replant them if you can't take anything with you? Or is there a fruit/flowers loophole? I've never had those with me when going...

Sorry to hear that someone destroyed your island at one point. It's good that you were able to fix it! This tip is very helpful. :)

You can't take anything with you from your town, no. But to get fruit/flowers, going on tours is your best way.

Yes, that's true. And you can plant it in your town, of course.

Not quite right. For an exceptional spawn rate of expensive beetles, only plant 2x Palm trees. One on the left, one on the right. Plant one regular tree @ the center of the island (not even sure this tree is even necessary as the Palm trees offer the BEST bugs to sell). These bugs are very testy so walk around them & finally towards them at a slow pace, else they'll be frightened & bolt.

On flowers, I think butterflies are attracted to flowers. I'm not sure if butterflies affect the beetle spawn rate. I may just rid all the flowers.

BUT, if you rather beautify your island, yes, repairs are totally possible.

I'm really sorry about your island being destroyed! Some people can be really mean like that. I hope it doesn't happen again! ;)

Also the bushes. I didn't get rid of the emperor butterflies until I dug up the bushes. I'm actually not sure if they're only attracted to bushes or if they also like flowers. Now that this question has been planted in my head, I'll need to test this.

it's pretty easy to collect flowers and fruit while on tours, I used this technique to increase my town fruit using the basket. as for the flowering bushes, you can get 'starters' from the island shop randomly for 5 medals each. I hope that never happens to you again, that sucks.

Yes. That's another variable! Might have to chop, chop, chop! ^o^

I think the hardest things to replace are the hibiscus bushes. Those seem to be very rare to show up in the island shop. And, unlike the trees and flowers, you can't get new ones from tours. But it's not impossible. You just might want to visit your island at least once a day every day for a while until they show up.

Maybe I was just lucky, but I thought the beetles showed up a lot more when there were no emperor butterflies around. In the past I would see three or four butterflies out at a time and the beetle spawn rate would be at such a standstill that I'd have to go inside and reset it. I'd put in maybe five to ten bugs in the basket at a time. Now I almost always have an inventory full of beetles when I go back, and I even lose track of how many I've caught and have to let one go to make room. So right now my island is definitely designed for practicality over aesthetics :)

Of course, sometimes the beetles don't seem to want to show up even with nothing else on the island, but that still seemed rarer and usually happened after 10:30 when things have slowed down anyway.

@Leah
It's my understanding that there will only be a certain number of bugs present, so the junk bugs could block for more valuable bugs. That's why I've cut down any non-palm tree and removed bushes and flowers.

Yup! Just did a quick run to my island again and the difference really is night and day. If you want to catch the beetles fast, the flowers and bushes must go.

You can't. You can get a dump load of fruits and even flowers during tours :)

Thanks for this helpful tip. I had been working on making my island a better place to farm beetles to pay for my house extensions and some of the public works but had been worried I wouldn't be able to bring it back to beauty when I was done. Thanks!
