Advice for not getting robbed

1. Shut off Wifi

If someone attempts to leave or end session once they have stolen whatever they wanted.
Shut off the wifi as quickly as possible.

2. Always follow the visitor around.

This does not include the main street since not a lot of things are yours to take up there. But if someone wants a villager to take but didn't pay make sure to keep full watch if they try to sneak off without paying. ( Flick off the wifi switch if so )

3. When you put out bells or items for something don't let the host save or end session.

Once you get the items you were told you would have it will be a legit trade.

When is comes down to it, Its just a game. You are mean't to have it for entertainment in your free time and enjoy comfortably. So don't go on a all out rage trying to torment anyone that stole from you.

You have more important things to worry about anyways..

I'm going to be honest here and say that most of it is quite obvious, and most scams occur due to the negligence of the victim. In fact, I see no reason to have this guide.

I seen some things of people mad about being scammed so i just thought i would share. I may save someones anger if they take this into consideration at best..

Also don't forget- nobody can come in or out if you have your little item window open- so you can keep it open during trades or when you're away so nobody can come in and steal stuff

If anyone else wants to contribute some advice i didn't catch on to feel free to post also.

What is the worst is when two/three people come at once and all run off in different directions...It's very terrifying to think 3 people are loose and could be stealing hybrids or items. (I run a shop and half the beach is covered in various valuable items.)

Also, if you happen to get scammed, send the user a negative wi-fi rating; just one means a lot. And DO NOT make threads being like "ButtButtCrossingButt is a SCAMMER!!! don't trade w/ them!!" cuz that's against the rules. and it's mean.

Also, if the person has a negative Wi-Fi rating OR no rating at all whatsoever, ask the person if you could check that the villager is in boxes! You have a higher Wifi-rating, therefor you have the right to check.

It may be obvious but for some people it isn't. People don't know that flicking the wifi can stop from being stolen.

This!! I feel so paranoid when I have people in my town for the first time (not from TBT really) because I don't know how trustworthy they are. If they're on my best friend messaging function, then I don't mind and they can go anywhere without supervision.

It's all about trust.

There should be a topic on How To Not Scam because some people just don't get it. It's not your town, therefore, items and hybrids are not yours and stealing from others is a pretty cruddy thing to do.

^ This.

I don't even know where people get the idea "wow I should go to someone else's town and take stuff I like". What kind of people are those? D: If I'm ever in someone else's town I'm terrified that I will do/say something that might come across as rude, let alone TAKING something without their permission.

It's not the victim's fault, it is the scammer's fault. What kind of person would want to scam just to get profit in a game? That is kind of pathetic, and
the most horrible way to get better things in a game. Although it is not the victim's fault, the victim should have made extra precautions, so they do not get scammed. I'm paranoid, and I check alot if the person is trying to scam me or not.
