How to water multiple flowers at once?

I’ve seen videos of people who water several different flowers at a time. What do you have to click to make this happen?

The Flimsy Watering Can only waters one spot, the proper Watering Can automatically waters multiple spots in front of you.

As Romaki stated, the flimsy watering can only waters the tile directly in front of you. However, the watering can (upgrade) waters the following :

X = Player/Tile/Flower, O = Tiles/Flower

OO

ETC.

BTW the watering can (upgrade) also waters the tile under the player, not just around them. So imagine an O under the X in above's diagrams
