I had no idea what to name mine, and seriously nothing was appealing to me so I named mine dash bc I really like the name lol. My mayor name is the same and I use the name dash for everything! It sounds a little unfitting but it's my favorite name and i'd probably do it again lol.

Also asking this question to see if any responses will give me any ideas for town names in the future!

Since I'm learning Choctaw (Chahta) I figured I would try to use the game to help me learn. So I named my mayor Haloka (dear/darling/etc. type term) and the town Naniwaya after Nanih Waiya which was too long. My designs I try to name in Chahta as well~

My town's currently called Vellie, after a location in the game Owlboy.
I just liked the way it sounded quite a bit.
Some of my favorite other town names are Lumarium, Clover, Dusk, Hillcove, Mistvale, and Oceania. :>

My towns are called Star Bay(main) and Monsoon(cycle/storage).

I wanted a pretty town name that had the word Star in it, but not overused(like Stardust, Starfall, etc.). The beach town theme was in my head at the time, so I went with Star Bay. It's cute and original! I'm super happy with it.

As for the Mayor's name, well.. Krisadra is the name of an OC that I've had for almost 11 years now. I end up using her name for a LOT of things because it's ultra rare(like Shiny Pok?mon rare) and unique(imo).

My previous attempt at a cycle town was called Cyclone, with Mayor Windy, so I kept the rainy windy names going and named this cycle town Monsoon, with Mayor Sylph(an air spirit).

Other town names I love include Irisvale, Luna Bay, Tenebris(Latin word for Dark.), and Lucidus(Latin word for light).

Feldspar is both a color and a mineral. I chose it because I thought it had a really pretty and unique sound. I chose Flint for my second town because it was another word beginning with F that fit those qualifications.

For my second town (which I've barely started), I decided to go with Clover because it's cute and simple and matches the forest theme I'm planning for it! But I can't take credit for it because I stole it from one of my friends :lemon: For my main town, Meadow, I actually just googled words associated with spring (Meadow is a spring town) and really liked the words Meadow and Daffodil! One of my characters ended up being named Daffodil, with Meadow going to my town. I tend to like simple names and have themes in mind, so googling helps.

I tend to pick names based off of other games/books I like.

Nibel - Ori and the Blind Forest
Gilead - The Dark Tower
Oeilvert - Final Fantasy IX

My first AC town was Bloomies, its a shortened version of my mom's hometown's name. Everything after that I named after trees/flowers or pokemon towns.

I named mine Windvale and I honestly don't remember how I came up with that name in particular... I guess I just put two words together that seemed appropriate, but the general idea I had for my town at the time was a breezy valley of flowers. I think during then I had some inspiration from Okami's Kusa Village in which the Gale Shrine houses the celestial brush god of wind, and I always loved the idea of a tiny little village out in the middle of no where with a fresh, untainted breeze, far away from the city. Little bit of obscure inspiration, but I really love the name I decided on and I don't think I'd ever change it.

For my first town, I just wanted to play the game and had no idea what I wanted to do with the town-- I sat and thought about it for a few minutes... "They're anthropomorphic animals... It's a town filled with human-like animals... Uhh.... Anthroia...? That sounds like a town name!" and that's what I used!

For every town after (My little cousin didn't understand that when I said he could make a new save file, I meant a new house-- he erased my first town and I was heart-broken but I wanted to use the opportunity to make a better town) I sat and thought really hard about what I wanted the town to be.

Milky Sky: A town run by a child mayor. On the day I made the town, I was thinking about what things I liked, and how I might have named a town if I didn't just name it after a video game realm. The sky was super cloudy, and I came to the conclusion that I wanted the town to be super pastel, with lots of white fluffy things... I knew I wanted "milk" somewhere in the name, but I also wanted something that no one else had used yet. MilkTea was my first choice but had already been used. I just sat and thought about it and then asked on here if people liked the name, or if I should just be one more "lullaby" or "MilkTea" town. Everyone seemed to like it, so that's what I went with!

For my forest towns, I named them after gods, goddesses, mythological creatures, hidden forests, mythical realms, etc. I did a lot of research on different language's word meanings, but MilkySky might still be my favorite! <3

I called mine Moonfall because I love the Zelda series, and in my favorite installment (Majora's Mask) the premise of the game is you have 3 days to get a mask because the moon is falling... so I called my town Moonfall because I'm obsessed with that game :3

I do want to make another town and call it Versailles, though. When all else fails, just name it after a modern (or not-so modern) real-life city.

... I named mine Sugarpop because I was a small baby (18 is A SMALL BABY) and it sounded cute ಥ_ಥ I freaking suck lol.

Canaan has a nice sound to it, plus I'm Christian so it's a reference to that. Diamond is a pretty-sounding word, a beautiful gem, and my birthstone. :)

really like the feldspar one! i'm a fan of minerals

my main town is Kanto, after pokemon, because pokemon was one of the first video games I've ever played. So, Pokemon has a special place in my heart. I've restarted my town over many times, but I always ended up going back to Kanto.

my second towns name is Acorn and I named the Mayor Owl, and I'm planning on naming any other characters after animals in the woods. Like the others could be named Fox, Chipmunk, Deer/Doe/Fawn. I thought Acorn sounded cute and I wanted a woodsy kind of town!

Pemberly, Meryton, and Longborn are all named for places in Pride and Prejudice because I love that book. La Lune was named because I was binging Sailor Moon. And my new town, Woolsey, is named after a place in the Parasol Protectorate series.

I just named my new town Rainier after Mount Rainier in Washington (near where I was born), so you can always look to names of geographic places that you really like or borrow a town name just looking around Google maps

My town is called Old Leaf. I just thought it would be funny to play New Leaf in Old Leaf. My mayor name Radagast is a reference to that wizard who lives in the forest and talks to animals...

Ruddyoak got its name when I started my first ACNL town and somehow forgot that I'd need to have a town name in mind. When asked for my mayor's name, I thought "Oh no!" and just used Athelwyn, who is a sorceress in an old Lord of the Rings computer game. Then when I was asked for my town name, I thought "Oh dear!" and quickly decided to name it after a little Ent from the same game. I'm so glad I did, because I gradually began theming my town after two things: oaks/acorns/fall (literally, ruddy/reddish oaks) and Lord of the Rings. I can't imagine it with any other name.

Goblin got its name because it's themed after the movie "Labyrinth," and Labyrinth is too long of a name. So I named it Goblin after the Goblin City.

AHS got its name because it is based on American Horror Story, and there really is no other way to abbreviate that and still have it be recognizable. (It's also the initials of my old high school, which is funny because it was kind of a horrifying place. :p )

Ostara, my old cycling town, got its name in honor of spring & Easter. That was going to be its theme. My mayor was Eostre (also in honor of spring & Easter) and her neighbor was Lemon. I deleted it to build AHS.
