Hybrid advice?

I restarted my side island, and I want to do some hybrid breeding, since I've never done it, and I want a kinda bright island.

I've read articles online but what Im doing doesnt seem to be working? So I thought Id ask some people on here.

Curently I just have flowers of different colors aside each other, but its been about a week and nothng has happened..?

Flower breeding may seem rather complex at first, but it's simple and just a matter of flower positioning.

Once you get the position right it’s pretty easy. However, the difficult thing is your villagers can’t seem to not water flowers especially the ones you have no desire breeding. If you have a lot of flowers it may take longer since the villagers will water things without consent. I usually clear my flowers out and only plant breeding flowers or use a transparent tile to stop other flowers from spreading.

Oh really? That could be one issue, they do water them often. I didnt think that would be part of the issue lol
