Hybrids when crossing two of same color hybrids?

From what I've seen, hybrids in this game tend to be have differently than past games. I've seen some posts of people getting new color hybrids when crossing 2 same color hybrids together.

Ex:

• Blue hyacinth + Blue hyacinth = Purple hyacinth
• Orange cosmos + Orange cosmos = Black cosmos
• Purple mums + Purple mums = Green mums

Has anyone else tried more combos like this and seen whether or not the produced new colors? IIRC, in past games, crossing 2 hybrids of the same color together only produced the same color again so it made it fairly easy to get a large stock of any particular color you wanted provided you had at least 2 flowers of it.
