Ive made a huge plantation to grow hybrids but its been three days and not a single flower has bred :(

What am I doing wrong?
The oranges and pinks were from before I made the plantation

It takes time sadly, I'm still trying to breed purple roses, been almost a week now.

Yeah, I've been trying to breed for a long time and nothing's been working. The best I've got is a single purple rose. Hopefully once they start selling fertilizer it'll get a little easier.

I find hybrid roses really easy to breed, but for the life of me, I can't get blue pansies... *sigh*

Oh, I know. I've had 16 white pansies in a diamond shape for a week now, and have yet to get a single blue pansie.

I get pink and oranges faster than I do normal colors... I detect a pattern: Pink & orange hybrids are common, black is in between, purple & blue are rare. That's how it has been for me, anyways. I have 36 hybrids, 14 are pink, 14 are orange, 5 are black, 2 are blue, and 1 is purple. (Purple's my favorite hybrid color... :( )

Before I started putting flowers together I would get some random hybrids.
Two purple roses, one pink rose, and one blue pansy.

Now that I've put them into shapes and whatnot, I've only gotten one more blue pansy so far. >_>;

I think they breed more easily when placed next to each other, not diagonally

I have so many orange tulips, and different colored roses

Yeah, they grow easier directly next to each other. Here's my method:

a = flower 1
b = flower 2
c = fertilizer

(with open space around)

I water them and put fertilizer in the middle and I always get 2 to 4 of the desired hybrid each day.

^ Hmm... I've tried putting flower directly next to each other. I have had better luck with them diagonally, so I guess it's just on luck which way works better?

I will add I don't have access to fertilizer, yet.

I thought the common knowledge was that hybrids are made best when flowers are placed diagonally? I hope that didn't change. :p

I'm thinking you get hybrids more often because of the fertilizer rather than flower placement.

I've had 20 red roses (descendants of purple+orange roses) set in a diamond formation for weeks now, but all I get are black and white roses from them... And yes, I water them.

I have to agree! It felt like just chucking flowers willy-nilly seemed to just make hybrids appear rather than arranging them all neatly and diagonally. Oh well. Hopefully after all this rain in my village, it'll help the flowers grow. It just takes time and patience, I guess.
